About The Position

Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. As Director, Project Delivery you will be accountable for leading the design and development of signalling for capital infrastructure projects across the network. Accountable for setting and enforcing technical standards, specifications, and compliance protocols across the division to guarantee the safe, efficient, and reliable signalling operations.

Requirements

  • Completion of a degree in Applied Science, Engineering, or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience providing comprehensive engineering and project management services associated with signalling planning, design, and development.
  • Previous experience with leading a team of technical professionals.
  • Knowledge of legal/regulatory requirements governing passenger rail services
  • Knowledgeable about project management principles and practices, including scope, budget and schedule controls, to be able to lead and direct cross functional teams and consultants engaged in simultaneous projects (i.e. design development, project progress, related staff, and project resources) and monitor project activities for adherence to standards and regulations, recommended practices, timelines, and project objectives.
  • Knowledgeable about the oversight, evaluation, and assurance of system integration to achieve performance metrics, develop and realize KPI’s for the asset class or systemwide function for reliability, availability and performance requirements consistent with the organizational strategic plan, customer level of service and business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the design and implementation of signal infrastructure with the assigned region to ensure seamless integration with the corridor’s civil infrastructure
  • Provides strategic and tactical leadership and direction to deliver large-scale capital railway infrastructure projects within the assigned region
  • Oversee planning and management of maintenance and rehabilitation activities required for signal systems and related functions along the owned railway corridor
  • Develops and sustains positive working relationships with all parties affected by signal rehabilitation activities
  • Provides senior leadership oversight of strategic plans and design and construction activities for adherence to regulatory codes, processes, and protocols
