Director, Production Analytics

Anduril•Costa Mesa, CA

About The Position

The Director, Production Analytics owns Production Analytics globally across every site, product line, and production function, including Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Supply Chain, Planning, and Warehousing / Material Management. The role is focused on helping leaders anticipate whether production will meet rate, identify constraints early, and make investment decisions based on evidence. This is a hands-on player-coach position. The Director will personally lead the most complex analytical problems on the company’s highest-priority programs while building a team capable of delivering work across additional programs. Success is measured by operational outcomes, such as preventing a production-rate miss, anticipating and clearing constraints, and providing trusted numbers that inform business decisions. Analytical approach and judgment are prioritized over prior functional familiarity; manufacturing experience is useful but preferred rather than a substitute for strong analytical methods and organizational influence. The Director will lead the consolidated analytics organization and its managers, embedding the team in production processes and teams. The role will shift reporting from retrospective status updates to forward-looking risk identification; turn proven capabilities into supported products and enterprise standards; consolidate duplicated reporting; and maintain an evidence-based view of constraints as production scales. Business units remain accountable for master data quality, while the analytics team provides tools that make defects visible and inexpensive to fix. Data defects must have an owner and resolution date, and data should be corrected before further analysis is built on it. Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance, and U.S. person status is required under ITAR/EAR. The salary range is described as an estimate based on compensation factors and includes base salary only; the specific range is not provided. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers. Anduril states that it offers top-tier benefits for full-time employees, with a comprehensive, competitive package available at little to no cost to employees. The posting also describes candidate recruitment-scam precautions and application data-privacy screening.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in analytics, data, or quantitative operations.
  • 5+ years leading analytics or data teams.
  • Experience managing managers or clear readiness to do so.
  • A rigorous, teachable approach to ambiguous problems, including the ability to explain how work is prioritized, analysis is structured, errors are identified, and methods are installed in a team.
  • Hands-on ability with SQL and a modern data stack, including personally investigating datasets, finding answers, and defending methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and analytically solve the highest-value problem in a messy operational environment.
  • A track record of specific operational outcomes caused by the candidate’s work, with measurable results and identifiable programs and stakeholders or skeptics.
  • Experience shipping analytics as supported products with real users and retiring the products or reporting they replace.
  • Ability to influence business unit and functional leadership peer-to-peer without authority and work credibly with initially unconvinced program teams.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
  • U.S. person status required per ITAR/EAR.

Nice To Haves

  • Operational depth in manufacturing, supply chain, or planning, including fluency with routings, work orders, MRP exceptions, and cycle counts.
  • Analytical ownership of a production ramp from low rate to high rate.
  • Experience building an analytics function from a scattered starting point and consolidating people, standards, and tooling that previously had separate owners.
  • Experience with Databricks and Palantir Foundry, dimensional modeling, and semantic or ontology layers.
  • Experience in high-rate or high-mix manufacturing, defense production, or another environment scaling volume quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Set an evidence-backed view of production’s highest-value problems and prioritize work rather than simply working from a request list.
  • Personally lead end-to-end analytics on the hardest two or three problems in Anduril’s flagship programs.
  • Shift production reporting from retrospective reporting to leading indicators that surface risks well before program gates.
  • Drive adoption of analytics products; treat unused dashboards as unsuccessful deliverables.
  • Generalize proven analytical capabilities into supported products, standardize validated definitions, and consolidate the duplicated reporting those products replace.
  • Own the analytical side of production ramps from low rate to high rate and maintain a current, evidence-based view of binding constraints as the company grows.
  • Lead the consolidated analytics organization and its managers, building analytics into production processes and teams.
  • Establish clear ownership for data defects and dates for resolution; build tooling that makes master-data quality issues visible and inexpensive to fix.
  • Personally investigate datasets, develop and defend analytical methods, and deliver trusted numbers for business decisions.
  • Influence business unit and functional leaders and work credibly with program teams, including teams initially unconvinced of the work.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers.
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees, including a comprehensive, competitive benefits package available at little to no cost to employees.
