Requirements

  • Typically requires 15+ years of relevant product marketing experience at an innovative company; insurance, financial services or B2B technology industry experience helpful but not required.
  • Proven experience in product marketing, go-to-market strategy, and/or marketing leadership within the technology / SaaS industry.
  • Deep command of product marketing strategy, including positioning, go-to-market planning, competitive intelligence, and sales enablement, with a proven ability to translate that expertise into scalable frameworks and repeatable processes across the function.
  • Demonstrated success in leading product launches, competitive positioning programs, and sales enablement initiatives that measurably improve GTM effectiveness and win rates.
  • Strategic thinker who balances long-range vision with hands-on execution; ability to architect product marketing strategy and guide the team through brainstorming, storytelling, and tactical delivery.
  • Deep understanding of buyers, influencers, and decision-makers with the ability to define and refine buyer personas to guide marketing strategies and product development, tailoring messaging and campaigns to resonate with target audiences.
  • Strong project leadership skills with a high degree of attention to detail, organizational discipline, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives through the team.
  • Comfort and curiosity using AI tools to enhance product marketing strategy, insight development, and execution quality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop clear, concise, and compelling messaging.
  • Experienced and comfortable collaborating with cross-functional internal stakeholders and external vendors, with the credibility to be actively sought out for product insight, positioning guidance, and GTM input.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional leaders across Product, Sales, and Marketing, shaping decisions and aligning department's efforts and priorities with other departments to achieve broader organizational outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve product positioning and messaging grounded in buyer needs, market dynamics, and competitive differentiation, ensuring the product marketing team executes with clarity and consistency.
  • Serve as the marketing authority on the full product portfolio, ensuring Marketing operates from a shared, accurate, and current understanding of products and roadmap direction.
  • Translate product strategy and differentiation into clear guidance that drives confident decision-making and execution across Marketing and GTM teams.
  • Direct the development and pressure-testing of positioning frameworks and narratives, coaching team members to build these capabilities and scale execution.
  • Leverage AI-assisted research, synthesis, and analysis to accelerate insight development, pressure-test positioning, and sharpen messaging quality while maintaining strong strategic judgment.
  • Conduct market research to understand industry trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs and use insights to inform product development and marketing strategies.
  • Monitor and analyze competitors' products, strategies, and positioning; define and refine buyer personas to guide marketing strategies and product development, translating insights into clear guidance for positioning, sales strategy, and product input that resonates with target audiences.
  • Utilize and direct the use of AI-enabled tools and workflows to synthesize competitive signals, customer feedback, and market trends into clear, actionable insights for GTM positioning and decisions.
  • Act as a peer and strategic partner to Product, Sales, and Marketing leadership, shaping product positioning and GTM direction through informed recommendations.
  • Proactively synthesize product updates, roadmap changes, and strategic implications for Marketing and GTM teams.
  • Lead product-related discussions within Marketing with confidence and authority, providing clarity and direction to both the team and cross-functional stakeholders, rather than facilitation alone.
  • Be actively sought out by Product and Sales partners for product insight, positioning guidance, and GTM input.
  • Collaborate closely with product management teams to provide market insights and guide product roadmaps.
  • Independently identify, structure, and drive complex product marketing initiatives and product launches end‑to‑end, including defining objectives, sequencing work, aligning stakeholders, and measuring outcomes.
  • Own and direct multiple concurrent, high-impact initiatives with documented plans, timelines, success metrics, and cross-functional alignment, delegating and empowering team members to own workstreams.
  • Establish GTM processes and playbooks that enable the team to drive momentum and execution with increasing independence, while maintaining strategic oversight and prioritization.
  • Apply AI thoughtfully to improve planning rigor, scenario evaluation, and execution efficiency across complex GTM initiatives.
  • Bring clear, independent points of view that connect product capabilities to buyer needs, value creation, and business impact.
  • Introduce recommendations and trade-offs that move discussions toward decisions and outcomes.
  • Reframe conversations to clarify paths forward and guide stakeholders to alignment.
  • Communicate with clarity and intent: meetings, briefs, and presentations result in shared understanding, decisions, and action.
  • Build credibility and momentum across Product, Sales, and Marketing leadership through influence-driven communication.
  • Use AI as a thinking partner to explore alternatives, surface trade-offs, and strengthen recommendations, while clearly articulating and standing behind a personal point of view.
  • Partner with the Vice President of Sales Enablement to support sales and partner readiness by creating and directing the team's creation of product-driven inputs, narratives, and materials aligned to GTM strategy.
  • Ensure the team delivers enablement materials (e.g., pitch decks, battlecards, case studies) with accurate product positioning, differentiated value, and buyer relevance.
  • Serve as the product and positioning authority for enablement content, ensuring consistency and credibility across all materials.
  • Partner with Sales and Enablement leadership to improve competitive win rates and GTM effectiveness.
  • Responsible for hiring, firing, performance management, appraisals, and pay reviews. Set clear expectations and KPIs; hold team accountable for results. Build a high-performing product marketing team by attracting, retaining, and developing strong talent at all levels.
  • Identify and develop talent. Develop leadership skills within management team, coaching them to lead their own teams effectively. Foster a culture of ownership, continuous learning, and innovation within the product marketing function.
  • Develop goals for area(s) tied to the organization's strategic plan; drive goal attainment; hold people accountable for goal achievement. Create and execute on employee engagement strategies; measure effectiveness; adjust as necessary.
