About The Position

The Modular Manufacturing & Integration organization is transforming data center delivery through standardized, mass-assembled modules and off-site manufacturing. The role serves as the field technical authority and operational bridge between Google’s manufactured modular infrastructure products and global deployment sites. It begins when factory modules arrive on-site and continues through safe offloading, rigging, precision placement, seismic anchoring, and verification of mechanical, electrical, fluid, and fiber interconnects before handover to local commissioning teams. As a founding leader, this role will establish operational standards for modular data center deployments and initially operate as a high-leverage technical leader, with a mandate to recruit and scale a team of Field Support Engineers and Site Integration TPMs. The role partners with local general contractors, external partners, manufacturing, and design engineering teams to deliver deployments and create a disciplined field-to-factory feedback loop that reduces deployment friction. Peak deployment waves may require up to 75% travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of technical program management, field engineering, or industrial equipment delivery experience managing physical infrastructure landings.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Operations, or an MBA with a technical undergraduate degree.
  • Experience developing rigging plans, heavy-lift logistics, crane positioning layouts, and structural setting of heavy pre-fabricated or modular assemblies.
  • Experience with Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) interconnects, including fluid quick-connect couplings, electrical busway tie-ins, and high-density fiber topologies.
  • Experience architecting formal closed-loop corrective action processes (e.g., FRACAS, 8D) that convert jobsite assembly challenges into upstream factory design modifications.

Responsibilities

  • Author and enforce global field engineering standards, detailed rigging playbooks, crane layout guidelines, and site logistics procedures for offloading, handling, and positioning.
  • Lead on-site technical execution of initial modular prototype and production deployments worldwide.
  • Own the physical module landing process through completion of interconnects.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise on heavy-lift logistics, tandem crane lifts, and tight-tolerance rigging, working closely with local site general contractors and EHS authorities.
  • Feed structured, data-driven field insights to Manufacturing & Industrial Engineering and Design Engineering teams.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a team of Field Support Engineers and Site Integration TPMs.
  • Drive end-to-end alignment to compress arrival-to-interconnect cycle times.
