About The Position

The State of Georgia is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as the Director for the Practical Nursing program at SCTC’s campuses. This role involves overseeing all aspects of the academic unit, including both instructional and administrative responsibilities. The position offers release time from teaching duties for administrative tasks and is a key leadership role within the nursing program. Requirements

  • Master's degree in Nursing from a nationally or regionally accredited institution college or university.
  • Hold appropriate, unencumbered licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse.
  • At least three to five years' experience working as a registered nurse.
  • Experience teaching in an academic unit in higher education within the past seven years.
  • Experience in a supervisory role in education and industry.
  • A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and Five (5) years of experience in management or the defined departmental area.

Nice To Haves

  • Three to five years' post-secondary and/or higher education teaching experience.
  • Experience in curriculum development, instructional methodology, planning, evaluation, budgeting, supervision, and management.
  • Experience in SACSCOC accreditation and GBON guidelines.
  • Experience as a program coordinator, director, dean, or department chair.
  • Familiarity with Technical College System of Georgia policies, procedures, and processes.
  • DNP, Ph.D, Ed.D, or Master’s degree in Nursing Education or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and organizing the unit's work to meet the technical college's objectives.
  • Responsible for fulfilling both teaching and non-teaching activities.
  • Assist in evaluating the performance of all full- and part-time faculty and staff within the nursing unit.
  • Coordinate the development of the program’s supplies and equipment list and submit to the Assistant Vice President of Nursing (AVP) for review and approval.
  • Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports related to accreditation and state licensing management.
  • Assist the AVP in preparing instructional program specifications and developing the program budget.
  • Representing the department at various internal and external meetings.
  • Developing and implementing an educational plan for all campus locations to ensure adequate staff, space, and materials.
  • Addressing and resolving complaints and needs of students, faculty, staff, and outside customers.
  • Serving as a liaison to departments of the technical college.
  • Promoting the programs to public and private organizations to support expanded services and facilities.
  • Attending campus program advisory meetings.
  • Providing leadership for committees, special projects, and initiatives as assigned.
  • Developing and/or assisting with the development of policies and procedures and recommending changes to meet the goals and requirements of the College.
  • Conducting regular evaluations of services provided and adjusting as needed.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and work well in the classroom and clinical settings as needed.
  • Completing other duties as assigned.
  • Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President of Nursing.
