Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Economics, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of experience in navigating large-customer commercial energy issues, energy infrastructure, microgrid development, or power systems engineering.
  • Experience in physical natural gas markets, including gas trading, transportation, storage and scheduling and possess a strong commercial mindset to evaluate market dynamics.
  • Deep knowledge of wholesale power markets (ERCOT, PJM, CAISO, MISO) and utility rate structures.
  • In-depth understanding of PPA structures and the ability to negotiate complex agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead business assessments for integrating power generation and microgrid solutions (e.g., Small Modular Reactors, gas turbines, fuel cells, long-duration batteries, solar, wind, geothermal) into data centers, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and sustainability
  • Formulate energy procurement strategies, optimizing purchase power agreements (PPAs).
  • Source, structure, and negotiate commercial supply agreements for natural gas, liquid fuels, and alternative feedstocks to support on-site generation, bridging power, and backup energy systems.
  • Evaluate emerging energy technologies including hydrogen fuel cells, long-duration storage, and small modular reactors (SMRs).
  • Manage regulatory risk by tracking changes in utility tariffs and wholesale market designs.
  • Lead business negotiations involved in deployment of multi-megawatt data center microgrids.
  • Integrate diverse assets including utility feeds, on-site solar, battery storage (BESS), and backup generation.
  • Maximize microgrid monetization through grid services, peak shaving, and energy arbitrage.
  • Manage capital expenditure and operational expenditure budgets for energy infrastructure.
  • Build financial models to justify energy investments.
  • Negotiate complex interconnection agreements and utility contracts.
