About The Position

The Director, Portfolio Analytics leads major portfolio analytics workstreams that inform enterprise, franchise, Therapeutic Area, and senior leadership decisions. The role shapes analytical approaches, interprets portfolio-level implications, advises stakeholders on value and trade-offs, and ensures portfolio insights are rigorous, timely, strategically framed, and actionable.

The role applies analytical rigor, strategic thinking, stakeholder management, and clear communication, using common PDA tools, methods, assumptions, templates, and capability standards. It supports Therapeutic Area-aligned collaboration across Portfolio Analytics and Decision Analytics and converts complex analyses into concise insights and practical recommendations.

The Director owns complex, high-impact workstreams from problem framing through stakeholder communication, operating independently in ambiguous or high-stakes situations. The position shapes the analytical agenda, influences senior stakeholders by connecting data and strategic choices, coaches colleagues, and advances PDA capabilities through reusable methodologies, tools, frameworks, and best practices.

Requirements

• Degree in business or an advanced scientific degree.
• Significant pharmaceutical industry experience with exposure to research, development, and/or commercialization processes.
• Deep experience with R&D portfolio analytics, valuation, forecasting, prioritization, scenario planning, or related strategic analytics.
• Strong understanding of pharmaceutical R&D, portfolio strategy, asset value drivers, risk, development trade-offs, and enterprise decision processes.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex analyses and convert them into senior-level recommendations.
• Ability to influence in a matrixed environment without formal authority.
• Track record of improving analytical methods, tools, processes, or team capabilities.
• Strong analytical rigor, strategic thinking, stakeholder management, and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead major portfolio analytics workstreams, including portfolio reviews, long-range portfolio assessments, prioritization exercises, Therapeutic Area and franchise analyses, and enterprise-level portfolio decision support.
• Shape analytical methodologies for portfolio prioritization, valuation, risk, scenario planning, pipeline sizing, value optimization, and related portfolio decision questions.
• Interpret portfolio dynamics, risks, opportunities, trade-offs, and implications for investment, prioritization, and strategic planning for senior stakeholders.
• Serve as a senior PDA thought partner for enterprise, franchise, Therapeutic Area, and EPI stakeholders.
• Lead development of senior-ready materials that synthesize complex portfolio analyses into clear recommendations and decision narratives.
• Mentor Associate Directors and other PDA colleagues in analytical framing, communication, stakeholder management, and portfolio methodology.
• Drive continuous improvement of PDA tools, systems, reporting, and analytical standards.
• Own complex, high-impact analytical workstreams from problem framing through stakeholder communication.
• Shape the analytical agenda and influence senior stakeholders by connecting data, assumptions, trade-offs, and strategic choices.
• Develop reusable methodologies, tools, frameworks, and best practices that improve PDA capabilities beyond a single deliverable.
