About The Position

St. Helena Hospital, founded in 1878 and located in the Napa Valley, is a 151-bed hospital with an emergency department and medical offices. It has centers of excellence in specialty care, including the Adventist Heart and Vascular Institute, Coon Joint Replacement Institute, Martin-O'Neil Cancer Center, and Behavioral Health units. The hospital is seeking a Director, Philanthropy to oversee all fund development activities, including planning and implementing Foundation initiatives to maximize philanthropic support. This role involves formulating and executing strategies for securing various types of gifts (annual, major, planned), grants, capital campaigns, and managing donor stewardship, acquisition, retention, special events, and volunteers. The position requires supervising and directing personnel with professional discretion and independent judgment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree
  • Seven years' fundraising experience
  • Five years' leadership experience
  • Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) accreditation

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a culture of philanthropy.
  • Provides strategy and direction for short and long-term initiatives of the Foundation.
  • Grows annual giving and program revenues.
  • Oversees the identification and pursuit of major donors.
  • Oversees the strategic use of prospect and donor database.
  • Ensures community engagement and oversees all areas of fund development.
  • Works in close collaboration with Executive Team, leadership, volunteers, board members and donors to increase giving.
  • Supervises and directs Board members and volunteers, and philanthropy personnel.
  • Oversees support staff.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
