About The Position

New Hampshire Housing’s mission is to promote, finance, and support housing solutions for the people of New Hampshire. We have empowered over 55,000 families to achieve their dream of homeownership and have played a pivotal role in funding the development of over 16,000 multifamily housing units. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to lead people strategy while actively managing complex employee relations, compliance, and a strong, values‑driven culture. We’re hiring a full-time Director of People & Culture to play a critical leadership role in shaping how our people and our mission come to life. As Director, People & Culture, you’ll be a trusted partner to leaders and employees alike, guiding people‑centered initiatives that advance our mission and strengthen our culture. In this role, you will:

Requirements

  • Strategic and analytical thinking with the ability to balance short‑ and long‑term priorities.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
  • High emotional intelligence, integrity, and sound judgment.
  • Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills at all levels of the organization and with external partners.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; HRIS experience required (UKG Pro preferred).
  • At least 5 years of experience in an HR Manager or Senior HR Business Partner role, including people management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Leadership, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional HR certification (PHR/SPHR and/or SHRM‑CP/SCP) and HR association membership preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design and lead a comprehensive people strategy aligned with the organization’s mission, values, and long‑term goals.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on talent management, organizational design, succession planning, and employee development.
  • Champion people programs and initiatives that enhance engagement, productivity, and retention across the organization.
  • Provide thoughtful, principled guidance to employees at all levels, ensuring fairness, consistency, and compliance with employment laws and internal policies.
  • Cultivate a high‑performing, inclusive culture through ongoing coaching, meaningful performance conversations, and targeted development opportunities that empower individuals and teams to do their best work.
