About The Position

GR0 is seeking a Director of Paid Search to lead the performance, health, and growth of its paid search practice. This role involves owning strategy for complex accounts, mentoring a team, managing a P&L, and driving revenue while ensuring client satisfaction and campaign efficiency across Google Ads and Microsoft Ads. The ideal candidate will be an operator who leads through influence and is comfortable with both financial analysis and strategic planning.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in paid search/SEM.
  • 2+ years of people management experience.
  • Deep SEM expertise across Google Ads and Microsoft Ads.
  • Advanced, data-driven optimization skills.
  • Agency experience is required.
  • Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, multi-client environments.
  • A track record of client retention, revenue growth, and escalation recovery.
  • Financial acumen, including experience managing a team P&L and influencing profitability.
  • Proven leadership of high-performing teams, including remote or offshore contributors.
  • Sharp communication and persuasion skills.
  • A caring, team-first leadership style that balances high standards with psychological safety.
  • Experience with D2C brands and performance-driven marketing.
  • An entrepreneurial streak, with experience launching new initiatives within a structured organization.
  • Success managing offshore talent across time zones.

Responsibilities

  • Own client outcomes by serving as the senior voice across the team's portfolio, leading strategic discussions, overseeing complex campaigns and budgets for exceptional ROI, and directly managing high-value accounts and escalations.
  • Identify at-risk clients and develop recovery plans to prevent churn.
  • Drive strategy by developing tailored paid search programs, optimizing across platforms, and introducing new tools, trends, and ideas.
  • Grow the business by leading pitches as a subject-matter expert, delivering prospect audits, identifying upsell opportunities, and negotiating contracts.
  • Build and develop the team through weekly 1:1 coaching, performance and career conversations, hiring and onboarding, and proactive retention risk management.
  • Own the department P&L, including revenue, headcount, tooling, and margin, reviewing it monthly with Finance to ensure profitability.
  • Raise the operational bar by maintaining SOPs and QA, planning capacity, and providing data-driven recommendations to leadership.
