About The Position

FAM Brands is seeking a Director, Packaging and Creative Services to lead packaging innovation, strategy, design, and production across its portfolio of owned, licensed, and private-label brands. This is a hands-on leadership role based at their Beverly Hills headquarters, requiring a minimum of four days per week, with the option for remote work on Fridays. The Director will set the creative vision, mentor the team, remove obstacles, and actively participate in the work when necessary. Key responsibilities include driving packaging innovation, overseeing creative development, managing production, and refining operational workflows to ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Extensive fashion or apparel packaging experience, preferably in club wholesale, multi-brand, or high-volume retail.
  • Ownership of packaging from concept through print-ready production and physical-proof approval.
  • Expertise in graphic design, structural packaging, dielines, substrates, prepress, print production, and merchandising displays.
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite and working knowledge of 3D rendering, structural design, or packaging-visualization tools.
  • Expertise in color management, including device calibration, ICC profiles, SWOP and ISO workflows, proof evaluation, and print tolerances; experience working with international printers preferred.
  • Experience leading creative and project-management teams and partnering effectively with stakeholders.
  • Ability to apply brand standards, retailer specifications, cost targets, and production requirements across multiple programs.
  • Ability to reprioritize multiple projects, identify risks, and develop practical mitigation plans.
  • Strong creative, structural, spatial, and commercial judgment.
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to turn feedback and subtext into clear decisions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Presence and authority to lead experienced teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the packaging innovation agenda across substrates, structures, folding methods, materials, finishes, closures, and merchandising formats.
  • Monitor club and other retail environments and use competitive trends and prior-year learnings to identify opportunities for new and improved packaging.
  • Maintain a seasonal pipeline of packaging concepts and advance selected ideas through development, prototyping, feasibility review, and refinement.
  • Present vetted concepts, prototypes, trade-offs, and recommendations each season for final approval.
  • Set and refine packaging direction based on business objectives, customer needs, brand requirements, and retailer expectations.
  • Participate in project handoff meetings to confirm business, brand, retailer, cost, timing, and production requirements.
  • Guide the development of graphics, visual systems, structures, merchandising, and in-package communication.
  • Maintain consistency across brands while adapting execution for retailer and channel requirements.
  • Serve as the primary packaging creative lead for Sales, Design, and Production.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President, Marketing Services on creative reviews of new packaging concepts and photography.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Packaging Designers and Project Managers.
  • Set priorities, timelines, decision rights, quality standards, and accountability, and provide clear, actionable feedback.
  • Partner with Project Managers to balance capacity, remove obstacles, and step into execution when needed.
  • Evaluate post-production and photo-editing output against brand and creative guidelines.
  • Oversee structural design, pack-out, PDQ and tray configuration, product visibility, protection, restock, and floor-ready presentation.
  • Ensure dimensions, materials, closures, unit counts, usability, and production feasibility are validated before approval.
  • Establish and maintain color-management and print-production standards across internal teams, Production, Factories, and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with Packaging Designers to review production files and color-accurate proofs, resolve color, prepress, and physical-proof issues, and confirm readiness for final approval before bulk production.
  • Work with Sales, Design, Production, and Factories to resolve construction, cost, quality, timing, and minimum-order issues.
  • Ensure compliance with brand standards, retailer specifications, regulatory requirements, and production parameters.
  • Review and refine workflows for intake, briefing, reviews, approvals, version control, proofing, and final delivery.
  • Review Project Manager reporting on schedules, workload, output, and production risks across concurrent packaging programs.
  • Improve templates, design systems, and processes to increase consistency and reduce errors.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of creative style guides covering brand, retailer, and licensed-brand requirements.
  • Ensure briefs and presentations give Sales, Design, Production, and Factories clear direction for execution.
  • Maintain proficiency in core workflows to provide coverage when needed.
