About The Position

The Director, Operations Finance is responsible for leading the financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and strategic analysis activities that support Planet Fitness' Corporate Club Operations business. This role partners closely with Operations, Marketing, Human Resources, Development, Construction, and other cross-functional leaders to provide financial insights that improve business performance, support strategic decision-making, and drive operational excellence across a multi-unit portfolio. This role serves as a trusted finance business partner, leading the annual planning process, quarterly forecasts, monthly performance reporting, and long-range financial analysis while identifying opportunities to improve profitability, optimize investments, and enhance financial performance. This individual also plays a key role in evolving FP&A processes, reporting capabilities, and financial models to deliver scalable, data-driven insights that support the continued growth of the Corporate Clubs business. This role follows a hybrid schedule and requires regular, in-person work at our Hampton, NH or Boston, MA office. Our hybrid model is M/T/W in office and TH/F are optional work-from-home. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of one of these locations. Fully remote work is not available for this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or another quantitative field required.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in Financial Planning & Analysis, Corporate Finance, Strategic Finance, Consulting, or Investment Banking.
  • Experience supporting multi-unit retail, restaurant, franchising, fitness, hospitality, or other consumer-facing businesses preferred.
  • Strong financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and business analysis experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial planning systems such as IBM Planning Analytics (TM1), Oracle, Anaplan, Adaptive Planning, Hyperion, or comparable tools.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and financial principles with the ability to translate financial data into meaningful business insights.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and communicate complex financial concepts to both finance and non-finance audiences.
  • Proven ability to prioritize competing initiatives while delivering high-quality, accurate work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify business opportunities and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Extremely detail-oriented, efficient, and organized with an exceptional ability to establish priorities and objectives

Nice To Haves

  • MBA, CPA, or other relevant advanced certification preferred.
  • Experience with business intelligence and data visualization platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting tools preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the annual operating plan, quarterly forecast, long-range planning, and monthly financial review processes for the Corporate Clubs business.
  • Partner closely with Operations leadership and cross-functional business partners to develop financial strategies that support business objectives and drive profitable growth.
  • Serve as the primary finance partner to operational leaders, providing proactive financial guidance, recommendations, and decision support.
  • Evaluate strategic initiatives, capital investments, labor initiatives, and operational programs through financial modeling and return on investment analysis.
  • Translate financial results into actionable business insights and recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Analyze monthly financial results, key performance indicators, and operational trends to identify risks, opportunities, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Lead variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior year performance while providing meaningful commentary and recommendations.
  • Develop financial models and scenario analyses that support strategic planning and business decision-making.
  • Monitor key business drivers including revenue, membership trends, labor, operating expenses, and club-level profitability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial performance through operational efficiencies, cost optimization, and process improvements.
  • Oversee the preparation and distribution of executive-level financial reporting, dashboards, scorecards, and management presentations.
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and consistency of financial and operational data across reporting and planning systems.
  • Lead forecast consolidation activities while maintaining governance over planning assumptions, financial models, and reporting versions.
  • Continuously enhance reporting capabilities, planning tools, and financial processes to improve efficiency, scalability, and business insights.
  • Partner with Finance Systems, Data & Analytics, and Accounting teams to improve financial reporting capabilities and leverage technology to support decision-making.
  • Build strong partnerships across Finance and the broader organization to ensure alignment on financial priorities and business objectives.
  • Influence cross-functional leaders by providing thoughtful financial guidance, challenging assumptions, and driving fact-based decision making.
  • Mentor and develop junior finance team members while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Support executive presentations, Quarterly Business Reviews, Annual Planning meetings, and other strategic leadership discussions.
  • Lead and participate in special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.
