About The Position

The Director of Worship provides spiritual, theological, and creative leadership for Storyline Worship, cultivating Sunday gatherings that are theologically serious, aesthetically excellent, and congregationally formative. This role exists to help our church proclaim and respond to the gospel through Scripture-shaped worship that leads people to know Jesus and love all people. The Director of Worship will also architect and shepherd a new residency program to shape the next generation of worship ministers and contribute to a shared worship philosophy across the Storyline Family of Churches. Additionally, this role champions a culture of songwriting that flows from the life and worship of Storyline Church, creating original songs that disciple both adults and children.

Requirements

  • A daily pursuit of Christian Maturity
  • Agree with & live in alignment with Storyline Mission, Values, and Statement of Faith
  • 5+ years of experience leading worship at a large church (ie. 500 avg. attendance)
  • Demonstrated theological, pastoral, and musical leadership
  • Proven experience developing leaders and building healthy volunteer teams
  • Ability to think strategically and build ministry systems that multiply leaders
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Collaborative and effective leadership style
  • Ability to coach and equip musicians and technical artists
  • Proficiency in Planning Center, ProPresenter, Google Suite

Responsibilities

  • Shape the Sunday Gathering to be theologically serious, aesthetically excellent, and congregationally formative.
  • Ensure production elements (lighting, sound, visuals) serve to reduce distractions and lift the congregation's eyes toward God.
  • Develop songs rooted in Scripture and formed by the arc of the gospel.
  • Architect and shepherd the Storyline Residency program for worship ministers.
  • Develop leaders and equip them to lead congregations liturgically.
  • Contribute to the development of worship resources, systems, and best practices for the Storyline Family of Churches.
  • Coach, encourage, and equip worship leaders within the Storyline Family of Churches.
  • Foster collaboration and relationships among worship leaders throughout the Storyline Family of Churches.
  • Champion a culture of songwriting that flows from the life and worship of Storyline Church.
  • Write, develop, and steward original songs that help the congregation sing the truths of the gospel.
  • Collaborate with songwriters, musicians, and worship leaders to create music that serves the local church.
  • Encourage songs that disciple both adults and children, helping pass the gospel from one generation to the next.
