About The Position

Columbia College Chicago is seeking a Director of Student Wellbeing for Clinical Care (DSW-CC) to oversee daily clinical operations within the Center for Student Wellbeing. This role involves setting policy for mental health clinicians, managing acute and crisis care, monitoring student needs, and overseeing the Electronic Health Records (EHR) system. The Director will also train clinicians, manage case notes, analyze data, and collaborate with campus partners to promote student well-being. This position reports to the Dean of Students and works closely with the Director of Student Wellbeing for Strategy and Engagement. Flex work options are available.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in social work (MSW), counseling, psychology, or related discipline required.
  • Professional licensure and/or certification in the state of IL (LCPC/LCSW) required.
  • At least 5 years' of progressively increasing experience in operating a counseling service center and developing programs required.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices in counseling, particularly college students in a purposeful brief treatment model.
  • Knowledge of administration and supervisory techniques and practices.
  • Knowledge of community-based social services, mental health and student support agencies or facilities, and their functions.
  • Ability to counsel students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in psychology or counseling at the college or university level preferred.
  • Experience in clinical supervision, staff supervision, and knowledge of case management software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Primary oversight of clinical care services, including the delivery of direct counseling, crisis intervention.
  • Provide direct counseling and mental health support to students with a range of mental, behavioral, and emotional needs.
  • Facilitate group counseling and therapy sessions as determined by student needs.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with TimelyCare, including the monitoring of cases handled by TimelyCare clinicians, student appointment thresholds, and continuity of care.
  • Supervise clinical and non-clinical Student Wellbeing staff through the development of individual and team goals, monitoring growth and progress, and completing annual performance evaluations.
  • Utilize data to assess the effectiveness of current programs and services provided while also identifying areas for improvement.
  • Work in partnership with the Director of Student Wellbeing – Strategic Engagement.
  • Maintain an updated community referrals list in coordination with the Director of Student Wellbeing for Strategy and Engagement.
  • Serve on various campus committees at the direction of the Dean of Students.
  • Participate in campus events such as Orientation, Commencement, and Convocation, as needed.
  • Perform other related duties and/or responsibilities, as assigned, or required.
