About The Position

Slide Insurance is seeking a Director of Underwriting to lead underwriting strategy, execution, and team performance to drive profitability and growth. This role involves partnering cross-functionally to ensure strong risk selection, operational excellence, and continuous improvement within an innovation-driven culture.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 7+ years of homeowners P&C underwriting experience.
• 3+ years of leadership experience managing performance and setting team goals.
• Experience working directly for an insurance carrier.
• Strong knowledge of Florida insurance laws and regulatory requirements.
• Proven analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Effective leadership with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills.
• Clear communicator with the ability to collaborate across departments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools (Teams, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Alignment with Slide’s Core Values.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement underwriting strategies to support profitability and market competitiveness.
• Oversee underwriting processes to ensure sound risk assessment and adherence to company and regulatory standards.
• Partner with Strategic Planning to implement underwriting and product changes within systems.
• Monitor underwriting performance, including KPIs, profitability, and portfolio results.
• Provide insights and strategic recommendations to leadership.
• Collaborate across departments to align underwriting with broader business goals.
• Lead, coach, and develop underwriting team members, driving performance and engagement.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence.
• Provide regular feedback and support professional growth opportunities.
• Identify opportunities to improve underwriting quality and operational efficiency through data analysis.
• Maintain current knowledge of regulatory requirements, legislation, and industry trends.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
