About The Position

Tax responsibilities include partnership compliance, federal and state/local income and franchise taxes, sales and use tax, personal property tax, unclaimed property and escheat, 1099 compliance, business-license renewals, tax calendars, outside-advisor management, notices and audits, monthly-close tax accrual support, and advice on entity structure and expansion into new markets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • At least 10 years of progressive treasury and tax experience.
  • Experience building and owning a 13-week cash flow in a lender-reported environment, including covenant compliance, credit-agreement mechanics, and lender diligence.
  • Hands-on partnership tax experience, including Form 1065, composite returns, and K-1s.
  • Multi-state sales and use tax experience at scale.
  • Advanced Excel modeling skills.
  • Ability to design processes and execute them directly, communicate the reasoning behind financial results, and work in a fast-moving environment with tight timelines and iteration.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA and/or CTP; an MBA is a plus.
  • Experience combining public accounting (Big 4 or national firm) with industry leadership.
  • Multi-unit restaurant, retail, or consumer experience.
  • Experience in a sponsor- or investor-backed company and with financing or refinancing transactions.
  • Familiarity with Avalara or Vertex.
  • Exposure to Canadian GST/HST or UK VAT.
  • Experience with Workday ERP and treasury or banking platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain a driver-based 13-week cash forecast, gather and validate cash inputs, and deliver weekly actual-versus-forecast variance analysis.
  • Manage daily cash positioning and liquidity across the bakery footprint, including depository concentration, sweeps, minimum-liquidity targets, and intercompany funding.
  • Ensure card-processor, third-party delivery, e-commerce, gifting, and catering settlements are received and reconciled; investigate breaks and benchmark and negotiate processing fees.
  • Manage bank and lender relationships, prepare lender reporting and covenant-compliance materials, and manage debt draws, repayments, and covenant-headroom scenario models.
  • Partner with the CFO on financing initiatives, interest-rate risk and hedging strategy, and debt-capacity analysis for growth.
  • Administer banking needs as bakeries open or close, including accounts, KYC, documentation, signatories, online-banking entitlements, wires, ACH, and fraud controls.
  • Review bank fees and account structures, and run banking RFPs when warranted.
  • Write and maintain cash-management and investment policies, drive treasury automation, and manage CAD/GBP cash needs for Canadian and UK bakeries.
  • Own partnership tax compliance, including Form 1065, K-1s, composite returns, nonresident withholding, PTET elections, and partner tax distributions.
  • Manage federal, state, local, and franchise tax matters, including apportionment, nexus monitoring, and city-level business taxes.
  • Manage sales and use tax returns and registrations across jurisdictions, including taxability questions, marketplace-facilitator rules, and audit defense.
  • File personal property tax returns and renditions and pursue assessment appeals where appropriate.
  • Manage unclaimed property and escheat, 1099 compliance, business-license renewals, and the master tax calendar.
  • Direct external tax advisors; manage tax notices and audits; support tax accruals in the monthly close; and advise on entity structure and new-market expansion.
  • Explain financial results and treasury or tax matters to the CFO, board, and banks while designing and operating the processes.
