About The Position

This person will be responsible for the internal and external business activities for his/her property as well as helping to promote all The Peninsula hotels in his/her assigned territory. This role will include developing strong relationships with the travel advisor community to achieve/exceed designated revenue targets all while representing The Peninsula New York as a brand ambassador.

Requirements

  • Previous experience (five years or more) in hotel sales, with a focus on the luxury consortia segment.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent education.
  • Strong sales expertise and networking portfolio in desired market, with industry integrity and leadership attitude.
  • Ability to handle fast-paced, high energy, stressful environment; ability to be flexible with work schedule including some late-nights and weekends.
  • An excellent knowledge of the current computer applications being used (Word, Power Point, Excel).
  • Ability to work with diverse team and across various departments.
  • Outgoing personality with a warm-genuine hospitable demeaner.
  • Keep a positive attitude during stressful situations and on a day-to-day basis.
  • Take direction from both corporate office and local hotel.
  • Task oriented with the ability to take initiative.
  • Must have work authorization in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Manage designated consortia accounts in assigned sales territory to meet and exceed personal room night and revenue goals.
  • Maintain existing partnerships and develop new ones within the luxury consortia segment.
  • Obtain larger than fair share of business from the shared accounts with our competitors and at the same time, look for new source of business.
  • Under the leadership of Director of Sales, and together with the Director of Revenue Management, achieve/exceed the projected RevPAR Index for his/her property.
  • Develop (and constantly review/revise) a yearly sales action plan for the assigned segments.
  • Sell all areas and services of the hotel.
  • Develop assigned market, assist in implementing strategies and projects to maximize account revenue.
  • Promptly follow up on all leads and maximize revenue potential.
  • Handle all aspects of account development to include sales presentations, site inspections, entertainment and sales trips.
  • Travel and plan out-of-town sales trips, including coordination of all arrangements, appointments and presentations as required.
  • Review and select financially sound familiarization requests and execute all pre-planning and on-site coordination of event.
  • Greet customers appropriately upon hotel arrival and during their stay, as deemed necessary.
  • Ensure regular update of account profiles and periodic database clean up and management.
  • Utilize Shiji for account management, rooms’ inventory, reservation’s function, and basic reporting features.
  • Represent The Peninsula New York and The Peninsula brand at tradeshows, industry events, or with roadshows, sales calls to the assigned markets.
  • Ensure proper usage (and within budget) of the given sales & marketing expenses.
  • Maintain close relationship with all key decision-makers in designated markets.
  • Support Head Office on group initiatives, including sales calls, trade shows and roadshow events.
  • Actively participate in sales meetings and trainings.
  • Communicate effectively and help manage sales coordinator.
  • Work with Marketing team on collateral, website, offers and email distribution applicable to the consortia segment.
  • Offer solutions to conflicts that arise with clients, hotel departments and co-workers.
  • Communicate with Director of Sales on any concerns or challenges that are prevalent.
