About The Position

This is a pivotal commercial position responsible for developing and implementing the strategy to grow Under Canvas’ travel trade business. The role plays an important part in generating and optimizing revenue opportunities through the development of new and existing relationships across the travel trade sector, including travel advisors and agencies. Working closely with the SVP of Sales & Marketing, and reporting to the VP of Sales, the Director of Sales, Travel Advisory, will represent Under Canvas across the United States, Canada, and Latin America, strengthening brand presence, growing strategic partnerships, and supporting long-term revenue growth. This is a fully remote position with a heavy travel schedule. The successful candidate should be comfortable and excited to travel regularly for in-person meetings, Under Canvas camp visits, trade shows, industry events, sales missions, and partner engagements.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a proactive sales environment within the hospitality, travel, or tourism industry.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in a sales or business development role within the hospitality or travel industry, with demonstrated success managing strategic travel trade relationships and driving revenue growth across the Americas market.
  • Strong understanding of the travel trade landscape across the Americas markets, including travel advisors, host agencies, consortia, tour operators, and preferred partner networks.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategic partnerships, drive revenue growth, and manage accounts.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify market opportunities, analyze performance trends, and deliver against sales targets and KPIs.
  • Excellent relationship management, presentation, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and operate effectively within a remote sales environment.
  • Experience using CRM systems and maintaining accurate sales reporting, pipeline management, and account activity records.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly throughout the Americas markets and internationally as required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage strategic relationships across the travel trade sector markets.
  • Drive revenue growth and market share through proactive sales activity, strategic account development, partner engagement, and targeted business development initiatives with a focus on shoulder and need-period demand.
  • Identify and cultivate new business opportunities across established and emerging distribution channels.
  • Conduct regular sales calls, partner meetings, training sessions, presentations, and market visits to strengthen awareness, and engagement.
  • Manage travel trade inquiries relating to product information, availability, experiences, partnership opportunities, familiarization requests, and sales support needs, ensuring timely follow-up and a high standard of partner engagement and service delivery.
  • Represent Under Canvas at trade events, industry functions, roadshows, sales missions, and familiarization programs as required.
  • Nurture Under Canvas’ strategic relationship with Hyatt’s Group Sales Organization, and partner with them to develop a strategy for Travel Advisor sales.
  • Build a consortia strategy and business case. Oversee the process and own the consortia relationship if Under Canvas pursues.
  • Develop and maintain strategic business relationships to maximize commercial opportunities and long-term revenue growth.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of market trends, competitor activity, consumer behaviors, and distribution developments, providing regular market intelligence and commercial insights to leadership teams.
  • Collaborate closely with sales, marketing, reservations, revenue management, and camp teams to ensure alignment across commercial objectives, campaigns, partner activity, and business priorities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within the company CRM system, including account activity, sales opportunities, pipeline management, and partner engagement notes.
  • Prepare and share regular sales activity and performance reports, contributing to forecasting, budgeting, and strategic sales planning processes.
  • Meet and exceed individual revenue targets, KPIs, and broader commercial objectives established for the Americas market.
