About The Position

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at Emory University is expanding its clinical and academic presence and is seeking a Clinical Academic Leader in Psychology or Psychiatry to become the Director of Transplant Behavioral Health (TBH). This role involves leading the TBH team to provide comprehensive care for organ transplant patients, including direct clinical evaluations, pre and post-transplant psychiatric care, coordination with inpatient psychiatric consult services, and collaboration with Emory's Transplant Leadership and Addiction Alliance of Georgia to develop an integrated care clinic for patients with alcohol-associated liver disease requiring liver transplantation. Emory's Transplant Center is a top-ranked center in the US, and the successful candidate will join Emory Healthcare, Georgia's largest healthcare system.

Requirements

  • MD degree with completion of a four-year residency program (psychiatry) OR a doctorate in clinical psychology from an APA accredited graduate program, an APA accredited internship, and at least one year of supervised postdoctoral training.
  • For MD candidates: must be board certified or board eligible in psychiatry.
  • All candidates must hold or be eligible for State of Georgia licensure.

Nice To Haves

  • For MD candidates: added qualifications in either Addiction Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine, or Consultation Liaison Psychiatry.
  • For MD candidates: experience working in the field of Transplant.
  • For doctorate candidates: administrative competencies in addition to clinical, research, and teaching expertise.
  • For doctorate candidates: experience and expertise in the field of transplant.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and directs the Transplant Behavioral Health (TBH) team.
  • Ensures the TBH team provides timely, comprehensive, collaborative care of organ transplant patients.
  • Provides direct clinical evaluations of patients seeking organ transplantation.
  • Provides pre and post psychiatric care for organ transplant patients.
  • Coordinates clinical assessments and treatment recommendations with Emory’s Inpatient Psychiatric Consult Services on transplant patients.
  • Coordinates with Emory’s Transplant Leadership and Emory’s Addiction Alliance of Georgia to develop an Alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD) clinic for complex high-risk patients requiring liver transplantation.
