About The Position

The Director of Transfer Student Success is responsible for the operational oversight of all transfer-related activities at Connecticut State Community College. This role will ensure the seamless transfer of students while driving initiatives to support and increase the success of transfer students. The Director will collaborate with academic departments, student services, and external institutions to enhance services, processes, and outcomes for transfer students. The role also involves providing leadership to ensure a supportive and inclusive environment for transfer students.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Education, Higher Education Administration, Counseling, or a related field together with two to five years of related experience that includes up to two years of supervisory experience; or a combination of education, training and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties.
  • Demonstrated experience in higher education with a focus on transfer services, student support, or academic advising in a community college setting.
  • Strong knowledge of transfer policies and articulation agreements between community colleges and four-year institutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships with students, faculty, and external partners such as universities.
  • Experience in data analysis and utilizing assessment tools to track student success, retention, and transfer outcomes.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience implementing strategic plans that improve the transfer process and enhance student experience.
  • Demonstrated intermediate experience using Microsoft Excel (e.g., Pivot tables, formulas, filtering/sorting, other integrations, etc.)
  • Familiarity working in a community college environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements programs and strategies that support transfer student success, including transfer orientations, mentoring, advising support, and academic resources.
  • Partners with the CCS 1001 faculty and staff to promote transfer related opportunities and events throughout the academic year.
  • Serves as the state-wide transfer point person for external contact campus related events surrounding transfer events and coordinators with the campuses to ensure a robust level of transfer visits from partnering 4-year institutions.
  • Collaborate with academic departments to provide professional development surrounding transfer related pathways to CSCU partner institutions.
  • Monitor and assess transfer student performance, identify barriers to success, and propose solutions to enhance retention and graduation rates for transfer students.
  • Provide professional development and training for faculty and staff on best practices in transfer student services.
  • Support the enrollment management division with outreach and recruitment initiatives aimed at increasing the enrollment of reverse transfer initiatives, including community and statewide outreach efforts
  • Analyze data, trends, and develop reports related to transfer students to inform decision-making, reporting, and strategic planning aimed at improving transfer student outcomes with reports provided to Enrollment Management leadership.
  • Support the development, management, and maintenance of transfer-related websites for CT State.
  • Maintains a commitment to CT State Community College overarching goals including initiatives encouraging equity and diversity.
  • Participates in on-going training and cross-training opportunities to ensure timely, thorough, and accurate processes
  • Adheres to FERPA and other departmental policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to student records
  • Interprets data and metrics to assess for efficacy of communication efforts
  • Represents CT State Community College interests at professional organizations at the state level.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies
  • Service on assigned committees and task forces
  • Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings which may occur during evenings and weekends.
