About The Position

Scope of Position: The Director of Training and Staff Development, reporting to the Vice President of Quality Improvement, Evaluation, and Training, serves as the strategic leader responsible for all agency-wide training initiatives. This role supports staff working with adults experiencing serious mental illness, substance use disorders, and psychosocial challenges across The Bridge's comprehensive system of care, including outreach, day programming, clinical services, and supportive housing. As a key member of the Quality Improvement, Compliance & Training Department, the Director ensures that training and quality improvement efforts align with funder requirements, regulatory standards, and stakeholder expectations while promoting trauma-informed, client-centered care throughout the organization.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree required in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, Organizational Development, Education, or a related field, with a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in behavioral health, training development, or a related practice setting.
  • Demonstrated excellence as a trainer, with a proven track record of designing, developing, and delivering effective training programs; experience with quality improvement methodologies and program evaluation strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives and competing priorities within budget constraints.
  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and produce clear, compelling written materials and reports.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain collaborative relationships across departments and program divisions, with strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking skills, including the ability to identify key stakeholders, foster organizational buy-in, and align training initiatives with broader organizational goals.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of trauma-informed care, recovery-oriented practices, and integrated behavioral health care models.
  • Proficiency in learning management systems, presentation platforms, and data analysis tools to support training delivery and evaluation.
  • Self-directed and proactive, with the ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive projects to completion while remaining a collaborative and supportive team member.
  • Ability to work in an office-based environment with occasional travel to program sites, maintain flexibility in scheduling (including nontraditional hours), and support training logistics, including preparing materials, setting up spaces, and facilitating extended training sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of all agency-wide training initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and service delivery models.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive core curriculum for all staff, with adaptable content tailored to direct care, clinical, supervisory, and administrative roles.
  • Ensure all training materials integrate trauma-informed, client-centered, recovery-oriented, and evidence-based practices consistent with current research and industry standards.
  • Align all training initiatives with funder requirements, contractual obligations, and regulatory and licensing standards, ensuring full organizational compliance.
  • Conduct ongoing needs assessments using program feedback, incident data, audit findings, and regulatory updates to inform and refine training strategies.
  • Manage the full training lifecycle, including calendar coordination, enrollment, logistics, materials preparation, and delivery of engaging, skill-based learning experiences.
  • Facilitate specialized trainings and provide consultation on behavioral health best practices, crisis intervention, and effective engagement strategies for high-need populations.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on training effectiveness through data analysis, participant feedback, outcome measures, and quality improvement indicators.
  • Lead and support quality improvement initiatives such as clinical case reviews and post-incident debriefings, translating findings into actionable training enhancements.
  • Supervise training staff, foster cross-departmental collaboration, and promote a culture of continuous learning while supporting leadership with strategic recommendations and additional duties as assigned.
