Director of the Psychological Services Center
About The Position
The Department of Psychology at the University of Maine is seeking a Director of the Psychological Services Center. This is a one-year, fixed-length, part-time, professional position with administrative and supervisory responsibilities, located in-person at the University of Maine in Orono. This role offers a unique opportunity for a clinical psychologist interested in combining leadership and mentorship. The Director will be responsible for the administration and leadership of the Psychological Services Center (PSC), which serves as the in-house training clinic for the doctoral program in clinical psychology. This program is APA-accredited and is the only accredited clinical psychology program in the state. All doctoral students begin their practicum training at the PSC under the supervision of the Director and clinical supervisors, carrying PSC cases throughout their training. The Director will collaborate with other clinical faculty to ensure students' clinical experiences align with the program's mission and values.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree in psychology with a specialization in clinical psychology (or closely related discipline) from an APA-accredited training program.
- Completion of an APA-accredited predoctoral internship.
- Licensed to practice psychology in Maine or license eligible.
- Strong clinical skills including psychological assessment, psychotherapy, and consultation.
- Strong skills in verbal and written communication, organization, and interpersonal interaction.
- Ability to function effectively in a variety of roles (e.g., supervisor, clinician, administrator).
- Ability to use independent judgment.
- Ability to travel (normally requiring a driver's license).

- Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management.
- Evidence of proficiency engaging with external organizations and with members of the public, consistent with the responsibilities of the position.
- Experience providing clinical supervision.
- Tele-behavioral health training and experience.
- Record of organizing/providing professional development experience for psychologists.
Responsibilities
- Administration and leadership of the Psychological Services Center (PSC).
- Supervision of doctoral students in clinical psychology during their practicum training at the PSC.
- Ensuring students' clinical experiences align with the program's mission and values.
- Working closely with other clinical faculty.
- Managing and imparting confidential information.
- Preparing and maintaining patient records.
- Budget preparation and fiscal management (preferred).
- Engaging with external organizations and members of the public (preferred).
- Providing clinical supervision (preferred).
- Organizing and providing professional development experience for psychologists (preferred).
