About The Position

With guidance and in accordance with established policies and procedures, the Director of Technology is responsible for overseeing the Bank’s Information Technology operations, infrastructure, applications, and technology initiatives to ensure systems operate securely, efficiently, and effectively. This role serves as both the operational leader of the IT function and the Bank’s primary business analyst for all technology initiatives. The Director of Technology aligns the Bank wide business needs with technology solutions, leads and supports technology-related projects, and partners with third-party vendors to resolve complex technical and application issues. The role evaluates and optimizes existing and new applications to maximize effectiveness, improve user experience, and drive continuous improvement across the organization. This position is responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and availability of all end-user technology while fostering innovation, operational efficiency, and strategic technology advancement throughout the Bank.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of progressive responsibility in information technology, banking technology, cybersecurity, systems administration, or related field.
  • Strong working knowledge of banking technology environments, banking core systems, Microsoft 365, cybersecurity practices, networks, servers, virtualization, and business applications.
  • Experience managing technology projects, application integrations, cloud technologies, and vendor relationships.
  • Experience evaluating, optimizing, and supporting enterprise applications and operational workflows.
  • Ability to align technology initiatives with business strategy and operational objectives.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify trends, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement effective technology solutions.
  • Experience managing third-party vendors, contracts, managed service providers, and technology support escalations.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing business needs, and work effectively under pressure.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Business Information Systems, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, and relevant experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, analyze, optimize, and continuously improve the use and effectiveness of the Bank’s core systems, applications, and technology platforms.
  • Strategize, manage, and support all network resources including firewalls, routers, switches, servers, cybersecurity systems, telecommunications systems, cloud services, and related hardware/software.
  • Serve as the Bank’s primary business analyst for technology initiatives by evaluating business processes, identifying technology opportunities, and aligning operational needs with effective technology solutions.
  • Lead large technology projects, including the design, implementation, integration, and deployment of new systems, applications, and IT services while ensuring systems remain operational with minimal downtown.
  • Analyze business requirements in partnership with key stakeholders across the organization to develop scalable and efficient technology solutions.
  • Provide escalation support for third-party software and technology vendors, coordinating issue resolution and managing complex support cases through completion.
  • Develop analytical and process improvement solutions that enhance application performance, workflow efficiency, reporting capabilities, and user experience.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and manage technology vendors, contracts, and service providers to optimize operational effectiveness, service quality, and cost efficiency.
  • Identify emerging technologies and provide strategic recommendations to Executive Management regarding opportunities for innovation, operational improvement, and risk mitigation.
  • Manage user access administration for all systems, software platforms, and vendor portals for employees, contractors, and third parties.
  • Ensure high availability and reliability of systems and connectivity through redundancy planning, backups, monitoring, disaster recovery, and proactive maintenance.
  • Develop and implement technology-related procedures and best practices while ensuring organization-wide understanding and adoption.
  • Provide training and support to employees on technology systems, applications, and process optimization.
  • Develop, maintain, and document technology-related procedures, workflows, standards, and operational processes.
  • Safeguard critical Bank data and technology assets through strong cybersecurity practices, access management, risk assessment, and compliance with security standards.
  • Provide helpdesk support and technical guidance to employees and vendors to ensure appropriate access and successful utilization of technology resources.
  • Develop and manage the technology budget, including forecasting, resource allocation, hardware/software planning, and vendor expenditures.
  • Manage, coach, develop, and evaluate Technology Solutions team members to ensure strong technical performance, professional growth, accountability, and operational excellence.
  • Regularly works a flexible schedule outside of normal business hours as needed to support operational and project requirements.
  • Undertakes continued education and professional development to remain current on technology trends, cybersecurity risks, banking systems, and operational best practices.
  • Communicates effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences regarding systems, projects, issues, and solutions.
  • Upholds the image, reputation, mission, vision, and core values of the Bank at all times.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by Executive Management.
  • Promotes and supports a positive culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and service excellence.
  • Ensures all departmental documents and activities are performed in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures as applicable to this position, including completion of required compliance training.
