About The Position

Reporting to the Superintendent, the Director of System Improvement is a senior leadership team member, advancing system improvement across the school district, working collaboratively with provincial partners, schools, and district central office staff for the alignment of the School, School District, and Provincial Improvement Planning. This role focuses on leading systemic improvement, leadership collaboration, and supporting the successful implementation of established priorities through the building of strong relationships. This district-level leadership role works in partnership with district leaders and school principals to strengthen educational improvement practices, learning support practices, and the effective use of data and research-informed decision-making. The successful candidate will lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of processes, programs, and professional learning that strengthen inclusive practice and build leadership capacity across the school district and schools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Development, Leadership, or a related field.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in one or more of the following areas: Business operations, program administration, or service delivery management, including planning, implementation, and oversight of programs, services, or operational functions; Strategic planning and implementation of organizational, divisional, or system-wide priorities; Project, program, or portfolio management of complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders; Continuous improvement and organizational effectiveness initiatives, including the assessment, redesign, implementation, and evaluation of processes, programs, services, or organizational practices; Performance measurement, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience providing strategic advice and support directly to senior executives on corporate priorities and transformational initiatives.
  • Proven ability to influence decision-making, drive organizational change, and achieve strategic outcomes in a complex environment.
  • Experience facilitating stakeholder engagement, building consensus, and managing competing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead with a system-wide improvement lens, connecting school district, school, and support of provincial established improvement targets.
  • Lead and support district development, implementation, and evaluation of the District Improvement Plan, School Improvement Plan, and alignment of Provincial Education Plan objectives.
  • When required, acting on behalf of the Superintendent, be a liaison within the school district, between districts, and with government departments; when established, may be requested to support the continued implementation of long-term recommendations and implementation of the Provincial Education Plan.
  • Build strong professional relationships and facilitate collaborative action within and across the school district, schools, and external partners to advance school district, school, and provincial objectives.
  • Provide data and research-informed recommendations and influence with senior leadership team to shape school district, school, and provincial progress on established objective.
  • Work to achieve continuous systemic improvement by leading and supporting effective change leadership within the school district, schools, and when required provincially.
  • Lead and support systemic innovation with district senior leadership, including School Innovation programming and through the continuation of the current Internal School Review process.
  • Lead the continued development of processes for review, growth, and evaluation of District and School Improvement Plan outcomes.
  • Lead and contribute to building organizational capacity for continuous improvement and the implementation of shared and collaboratively developed approaches to process and systemic improvement.
  • Support consistency in planning, implementation, and evaluation across the school district and school, when appropriate, with government departments.
  • Lead the coordination of key initiatives through effective planning, development of clear roles, established deliverables, and processes for communication.
  • When requested, support the Superintendent with consistent data analysis, reporting, and ongoing communication of school district, school, and provincial objectives.
  • Identify risks and barriers and provide recommendations to enable successful alignment and implementation of school district, school, and provincial objectives.
