About The Position

Cottage Hospital is seeking an experienced and collaborative Registered Nurse leader to serve as our Surgical Services Director. This role provides clinical and operational leadership for Surgical Services while supporting high-quality patient care across ambulatory surgery, outpatient procedures, and oncology-related services within our rural critical access hospital. The Surgical Services Director is responsible for overseeing nursing care delivery, maintaining professional nursing standards, supporting staff development, and ensuring efficient department operations. This position works closely with physicians, nursing staff, administration, and interdisciplinary teams to promote safe, patient-centered care and strong clinical outcomes. In addition to leadership responsibilities, the Surgical Services Director will assist with the organization and direction of the cancer program, including outreach tumor board participation, and may provide direct care to oncology patients receiving chemotherapy.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current RN license in the State of New Hampshire or ability to obtain
  • Chemotherapy administration certification required
  • Previous acute care experience required

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee Surgical Services operations and patient care delivery
  • Ensure high standards of clinical nursing practice and patient safety
  • Perform age-appropriate assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care
  • Support and guide nursing staff through leadership, education, and clinical oversight
  • Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and quality initiatives
  • Assist with organization and direction of the cancer program and outreach tumor board
  • Provide direct care to oncology patients receiving chemotherapy as needed
  • Support patient and family education throughout the care continuum
