About The Position

The Director of Supply Chain leads a talented team in driving all aspects of supply chain operations for an early-stage, rapidly growing company. This role involves developing, executing, and improving processes, tools, and systems for forecasting, sourcing, procurement, outsourced manufacturing, inventory management, 3PL management, fulfillment, and logistics. The position requires a blend of tactical day-to-day management and strategic implementation for continuous improvement and future growth. The Director will orchestrate current systems and supply bases, project future needs, and roadmap initiatives to support the company's growth plans. This role is both a player and a coach, requiring the ability to analyze data and develop team members as technical experts and people managers.

Requirements

  • +10 years of progressive supply chain leadership, including Director roles or equivalent.
  • Functional expertise across sourcing, outsourced manufacturing, 3PL logistics, quality, and cost optimizing.
  • Expertise in ecommerce, direct-to-consumer, and CPG business to leverage best practices and foster innovation in operations.
  • Experience sourcing from and managing international suppliers.
  • Detail-oriented, assiduous, drive for results, positive, collaborative, flexible, transparent, passion for learning, and empathetic.

Responsibilities

  • Owning ultimate accountability for delivery to customers (direct and wholesale) on time and in full.
  • Overseeing supplier/manufacturer management.
  • Overseeing supply chain and inventory management to meet sales goals and growth plans without stockouts or overcommitment.
  • Developing and continually refining S&OP and other cross-functional planning processes.
  • Participating in new product development efforts to ensure on-schedule completion.
  • Maintaining, improving, and creating new key relationships across suppliers and network partners.
  • Sourcing and developing new products and components in partnership with the R&D team.
  • Overseeing domestic and international transportation.
  • Engaging with Retail and DTC teams to ensure collaboration and mutual success.
  • Defining, refining, and establishing key performance metrics and benchmarks for materials and logistics initiatives.
  • Monitoring and tracking program effectiveness using reports, dashboards, and scorecards.
  • Creating the strategic plan for supply chain based on evolving business plans and market dynamics.
  • Determining the overall optimal future state of the supply chain (capacities, costs, capabilities, geographics, etc.), leveraging best practices and innovative solutions.
  • Working with management teams to define future states and implementation strategies, balancing current business needs with future investments.
  • Leading cross-functional, strategic projects for Supply Chain, including financial and quantitative analyses.
  • Partnering with functional owners to translate strategic objectives into a project roadmap (people, process, systems, assets).
  • Connecting strategies and time horizons, maintaining a holistic business understanding across functions.
  • Understanding and improving current supply chain technology in line with short and longer-term objectives.
  • Evaluating best-in-class supply chain technology and infrastructure suitable for business scope, size, and future growth.
  • Contributing to the technology strategy by identifying, assessing, and recommending external trends.
  • Partnering with Finance and Accounting for cash forecasting and cost classifications (purchasing projections, COGS, operational expenditures, capital expenditures).
  • Driving development and tracking of supply chain budgets in accordance with the overall strategy.
  • Contributing to operations planning processes including SKU Rationalization, departmental planning, revenue forecasting, and budget completion.
  • Daily management of the Operations Department.
  • Meeting with reports to create action plans, check project/performance status, and discuss improvement opportunities.
  • Ensuring reports have necessary resources to create innovative processes driving supply chain efficiency.
  • Coaching and managing the team through technical obstacles and providing direction for improvement.
  • Enabling reports to have ownership of their function and work autonomously.
  • Mentoring, coaching, and growing current team members in technical subject matters and managerial competencies.
  • Advising department managers on strategies to advance their teams and cultivate leadership development.
  • Implementing processes and systems that scale and support a high-functioning team.
  • Scoping, recruiting, and hiring additional talent as needed.
