About The Position

The University of Maine at Presque Isle is seeking a dynamic and collaborative leader to serve as Director of Student Teaching and Field Experience within the Education program, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026. This fully in-person, on-campus position oversees all aspects of student teaching and field placements, ensuring high-quality, meaningful experiences for future educators. The Director will manage partnerships with PK–12 schools, coordinate placements and supervision, oversee budgets and compliance, support accreditation and reporting, and guide continuous improvement initiatives. The role works closely with faculty, students, and school partners to strengthen program effectiveness and prepare students for professional success in education. Most work will be completed in an on-campus office, with additional time spent on-site at partner schools throughout Maine and Canada. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with hours adjusted as needed for travel and student needs. This position requires the ability to travel long distances to visit partner schools and foster strong relationships across diverse educational settings.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Education or a related field.
  • Experience collaborating with public school administrators to organize field placements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, interests, and abilities.
  • Strong written communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to learn new information quickly and adapt as needed.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to build relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of and experience with learning management systems.
  • Ability to work with faculty and advisors to prepare students for field placements and student teaching requirements.
  • Ability to travel within Maine and Canada.
  • Proficiency in data management and analysis software.
  • Proficiency with word processing tools (e.g., Word, Google Docs).
  • Proficiency with virtual meeting tools (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience managing educational programs or supervising staff in a K-12 or higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership in developing or implementing educational partnerships or outreach initiatives.
  • Familiarity with state or federal regulations related to K-12 field placements or teacher licensure.
  • Experience in program assessment or accreditation processes.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Program Director, Project Management Professional) or advanced training in educational administration.
