About The Position

The College of Architecture, Art, and Planning at Cornell University (Cornell AAP) includes the departments of Architecture, Art, City and Regional Planning, the Paul Rubacha Department of Real Estate, jointly led by AAP and the SC Johnson College of Business, the multicollege Department of Design Tech, and the Cornell Mui Ho Center for Cities. The college spans three locations in Ithaca, New York City, and Rome, Italy, each with world-class facilities and cutting-edge technologies. Cornell AAP is about acts of transformation. We are committed to reimagining and reshaping the world in new ways, every day. A vital college at one of the nation's foremost research universities, Cornell AAP brings faculty, staff, and students together from around the world to take up some of today's most urgent challenges and advance research, inquiry, and collaborative approaches to designing, making, and doing that make a more just and resilient future. The Office of Admissions and Student Services at AAP provides strategic focus and superior quality services in the promotion of the college’s academic opportunities and resources essential to providing seamless support for students and faculty. The office is co-led by the Senior Director of Enrollment and the Senior Director of Student Experience, and is comprised of these collaborative teams: Admissions, College Registrar, Global Study, Student Services, Equity and Belonging, and Career Services. The Associate Director of Student Experience serves as a first point-of-contact within the college for matters regarding student well-being, is an advising resource to all AAP students in Ithaca, Rome, and NYC, and serves as an advocate for all AAP students. In addition, the Associate Director works closely with academic departments and campus partners (e.g., Cornell Health, including Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), the Health Leaves Coordinator, and Student Disability Services, Dean of Students Office) to provide comprehensive support to our student community. The Associate Director supports the AAP community by collaborating on college-wide events and initiatives including but not limited to orientation, first year family weekend, and commencement. As part of the Admissions and Student Services team, the Associate Director works to promote Belonging at Cornell and other university and college initiatives for diversity and inclusion. The Associate Director of Student Experience is a full-time hybrid position, typically structured as four days on campus and one remote day per week. Because this is a student-facing role, the primary work location is the Ithaca campus. The selected candidate will begin in a fully on-campus schedule during the initial onboarding period to support relationship-building and integration into the college. After onboarding, the hybrid schedule will be established in collaboration with unit leadership, based on operational needs. Core office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Occasional, pre-scheduled evening and weekend student events are required.
