About The Position

Ravenscroft School is seeking a mission-driven and community-centered leader to serve as Director of Student Programming and Culture. This role strengthens the student experience across the Middle School and Upper School by cultivating spaces where belonging, identity, and leadership flourish. The Director serves as the school’s primary architect for identity-affirming, leadership-centered, and community-building student programming. Working closely with divisional leadership, the Student Life Committee, and the Department of Community, Culture, and Belonging (CCB), this leader ensures that student programming is developmentally aligned, culturally responsive, and grounded in the belief that every student should feel seen, valued, and empowered. This is leadership that shapes lived experience—designing systems, structures, and meaningful moments that help students connect deeply with themselves, one another, and the broader community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum three years student life leadership experience (e.g. Grade Level Dean, Assistant Dean of Students, Student Life Coordinator or similar)
  • Experience designing, enhancing, or leading student life programming
  • Deep understanding of child and adolescent identity development and belonging
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor student leaders and collaborate with faculty
  • Ability to analyze student engagement data to inform programming decisions
  • Strong organizational skills and capacity to manage multiple priorities
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
  • Flexibility to attend evening events and school functions as needed
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of maintaining a visible presence across campus

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement identify-affirming, leadership-centered, and community-building student programming across the Middle School and Upper School
  • Support, advise, and coordinate student affinity and alliance groups, providing coaching and development for student leaders and faculty sponsors
  • Meet regularly with student leaders to strengthen leadership capacity, ensure integrity of programming, and support implementation of divisional student leadership initiatives
  • Mentor and advocate for students as they explore identity, navigate leadership roles, and contribute to school culture
  • Develop programming aligned with the Lead From Here Citizen Framework that cultivates cultural awareness, empathy, and cross-cultural competency
  • Design and facilitate leadership development experiences, including summits, retreats, workshops, and culturally focused gatherings
  • Collaborate with divisional Student Life leaders and committees to ensure consistency, developmental alignment, and mission coherence across programming
  • Partner with Divisional Leadership Teams to plan assemblies, cultural celebrations, leadership workshops, and cross-divisional initiatives
  • Support Ravenscroft 101 and student transition programming to ensure a welcoming and inclusive entry into the school community
  • Partner with Admissions and CCB to support families with significant financial needs, ensuring equitable access to programming and student experiences
  • Maintain strong communication with families regarding leadership opportunities, cultural programming, and identity-based initiatives
  • Collaborate with the Director of Dialogue and the Director of Global Programming to strengthen empathy, dialogue, and global awareness initiatives
  • Connect students with regional and national leadership opportunities, including independent school and diversity leadership programs
  • Manage student-facing communication platforms and affinity/alliance resources to ensure clarity, accessibility, and transparency
  • Maintain organized systems for scheduling, documentation, communication, and program evaluation
  • Serve as an active member of the Student Life Committee, strengthening cross-divisional alignment and mission-driven student culture
