About The Position

Saskatchewan Distance Learning Centre (Sask DLC) is seeking a permanent, full-time Director of Student Programming to be based in Saskatoon. This role commences on June 1, 2026, or a mutually agreed-upon date. Sask DLC, a Treasury Board Crown Corporation, delivers high-quality online learning programs across the province. The Director of Student Programming reports to the Superintendent of Student Programming and is responsible for operational leadership within the division. This position ensures the effective execution of strategic direction, consistent operation of Student Programming, and maintains a focus on sustainability, clarity, and accountability. The Director provides supervision and leadership across various portfolios, including program development, course development systems, curriculum, instruction and assessment support, Indigenous education, educational technology and innovation (including AI), resource development, procurement, and distribution systems, and provincial/organizational initiatives related to student programming. The goal is to ensure alignment, integration, and effective execution to support Sask DLC’s mandate and strategic priorities. The Director is accountable for supervising Student Programming Managers and Consultants, implementing strategic direction, and ensuring the effective day-to-day operation of student programming structures.

Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of all facets of program development and review, course development systems and structures, curriculum, instruction, and assessment supports, educational technology including AI, and Indigenous education.
  • Well-established leadership strengths, including direct supervision, with a focus on building a culture of high performance based on strong values and principles.
  • Executive skills, including the ability to lead change and lead people to ensure that targeted goals are achieved and build capacity for sustained improvement at both the division and organization levels.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to present complex topics and projects to senior leadership.
  • Ability to lead, conceptualize, plan, direct, and coordinate activities of diverse teams and cross-functional groups.
  • Ability to analyze data, recognize areas of concern or opportunity, and develop and operationalize effective follow-up actions.
  • An understanding of current trends, developments in Pre-K to Grade 12 education.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team-based environment with excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate consensus-building skills, results-oriented, with well-developed critical thinking skills and a talent for building, developing, and guiding teams.
  • Diplomatic, professional, persuasive, and tactful, with well-developed written and oral communications skills and the ability to work with and influence a variety of stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct supervision to managers and consultants across assigned areas, ensuring clarity of roles, effective workflow, and alignment to organizational priorities.
  • Identifies and addresses gaps, overlaps, and inefficiencies across areas of responsibility.
  • Translates direction from the Superintendent into clear operational plans.
  • Implements and monitors accountability structures, ensuring data, reporting, and documentation support decision making and transparency.
  • Provides regular updates, analysis, and recommendations to the Superintendent.
  • Contributes to leadership discussions and organizational planning as part of the broader leadership team when required.
  • Builds leadership capacity across Student Programming through mentorship and support.
  • Works collaboratively with other departments to ensure alignment across the organization.
  • Ensures strategic linkages and supports organizational development efforts within the organization, including change management and transition planning.
  • Identifies potential risks, develops mitigation strategies, and communicates possible outcomes.
  • Performs other duties that may be required or assigned by the Superintendent of Student Programming.
