About The Position

The Director of Student Affairs provides visionary leadership for the student experience at Valor Christian High School, overseeing all aspects of Student Affairs to cultivate a Christ-centered culture that reflects the school's mission, vision, and values. As a member of the Cabinet, this leader develops and executes strategic initiatives that promote student growth, character formation, belonging, and engagement while ensuring excellence across all aspects of the student experience.
The Director leads and develops the Student Affairs team including Deans of Students, Christian Counseling and Wellness Services, Student Leadership, and Student Life and partners closely with faculty, staff, coaches, parents, and school leadership to create a thriving student community. This role oversees student culture and retention, behavior and discipline, student leadership development, school and student traditions and events, retreats, wellness initiatives, and student engagement, while maintaining strong partnerships with families to support student success.
Additionally, the Director is responsible for strategic planning, operational excellence, budget stewardship, data-informed decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration with departments including Admissions, Human Resources, Marketing, Advancement, and Discovery. Through visible leadership, effective communication, and a commitment to continuous improvement, the Director ensures that every aspect of Student Affairs contributes to the holistic development of students and advances Valor Christian High School's strategic priorities and mission.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required
• Experience in educational or organizational leadership
• Management and supervisory experience, preferably within an educational setting
• Solid biblical and theological foundation and understanding
• Full understanding of and alignment with Valor Christian’s culture and values
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Competent in navigating challenging conversations
• Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor with a positive disposition while working in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite software programs

• Leadership and Oversight of Student Affairs
• Provide leadership, oversight, and coordination for all Student Affairs efforts across the full spectrum of Valor Christian High School including leadership of the Student Affairs team which consists of Deans of Students, Christian Counseling and Wellness Services, Student Leadership, and Student Life
• Supplement the Deans of Students team by assuming the functional responsibilities of a Dean of Students on an as needed basis
• Collaborate with members of your team and with faculty, staff, coaches, administrators, leadership, and parents to create an exceptional student culture, steeped in our vision and mission
• Oversee and support the following efforts: student culture, behavior and discipline, student leadership, school spirit and community gatherings, class retreats, local service opportunities in collaboration with Discovery, prayer partners, and enjoyable engagement for all students ensuring alignment with all policies, including the Christian Community Policy
• Provide leadership to ensure programmatic excellence for all student experience areas outside of traditional academic courses, arts, athletics and Discovery
• Engage with various departments and Valor team members to strengthen students’ overall performance
• Consistently partner and communicate with parents in the shared desire of student growth and character development as well as any student discipline or behavioral issues
• Maintain visibility by attending major key events and utilizing co-curricular events to develop relationships with students, faculty, staff, and parents
• Analyze student-survey data and implement specific strategies to address student affairs activities and support/improve areas of concern
• Create and manage a comprehensive calendar of student activities and events
• Hire, train, and supervise members of your team and ensure their ongoing professional development to support and continue growing and developing their abilities
• Develop and maintain clear annual Operating Plans that include systems of assessment and reporting that inform and influence the strategic direction of Student Affairs
• Create, oversee, and steward all areas of the Student Affairs budgets
• Provide “State of Student Affairs” reports to the Head of School as requested
• Strategic Planning and Oversight as Part of Valor Christian’s Cabinet Team
• Collaborate with Cabinet leaders to address critical issues and drive school-wide initiatives
• Participate in the development and evolution of the Student Affairs portion of the school’s overall strategic plan that sets priorities, advances departmental and school goals, addresses student needs, and aligns with school initiatives
• Partner with admissions and enrollment on applicant reviews, enrollment transitions, onboarding, and retention efforts to enhance recruitment, graduation rates, and matriculation data
• Effectively communicate all matters related to Student Affairs, seek counsel, and meet regularly with the Head of School and other Cabinet members
• Work in partnership and collaboratively with Human Resources on any matters related to concerning employee-student interactions
• Collaborate with Valor leadership in setting standards, procedures and outcomes for potential misalignments and conflict between the school and students, student-athletes, and parents, including establishing and executing student discipline
• Assist in the training and mentorship for faculty, staff, and coaches on effectively engaging with both the student and parent communities
• Team with the Marketing, Advancement, and Admissions departments regarding communications to build community and culture
