About The Position

The Midtown Association (MA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to making Midtown the center for culture, creativity, and vibrancy in Sacramento’s urban core. This role requires individuals with transferable industry experience in large-scale operations, sales, or logistics within sectors such as construction, public safety, non-profits, events, theatre, law, government affairs, or public policy.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of full-time experience in a relevant professional field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area of study.
  • Direct staff and contract/consultant management experience.
  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills in English.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
  • Pass background and drug screening (cannabis permissible).
  • Proficiency in Monday.com or similar project management software.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS.
  • Proficiency in Budgyt or similar budgeting software.
  • Proficiency in Office Suite.
  • Proficiency in Adobe.
  • Reliable personal transportation and clear driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Reducing the experience of unsafe behavior in the district for stakeholders.
  • Launching specific service enhancements within Clean and Safe programs, including maintenance contracts and district-wide cameras.
  • Supporting security response with law enforcement and other contractors.
  • Collaborating effectively across Admin, Communications, Events, Placemaking, and Clean and Safe teams to align safety efforts with organizational priorities.
  • Managing direct and indirect reports.
  • Launching and scaling program enhancements.
  • Advocating and negotiating with stakeholders and public agency partners.
  • Managing external consultants and contractors to streamline system improvements.
  • Acting as staff support to committees of board members and expert community members.
  • Driving program budget development and delivering program projects within developed budgets.
  • Planning program performance to generate specific outcomes.
  • Developing efficiencies and driving improvements for service delivery.
  • Creating partnerships to generate funds for the organization.
  • Launching new camera technology, evaluation systems, and contracted services to create efficiency in services and continually evaluate ROI and program performance.
  • Leading community-driven initiatives that solve challenging public space management issues, including working with community committees to change service delivery and business operations to increase safety in public spaces.
  • Leading consultant and contract work that streamlines and automates systems.
  • Upholding the integrity of the organization’s work by measuring impact of services through both data and story methods and communicating outwards with stakeholders.
  • Coordinating and advocating for resources with the Police Department, Department of Community Response, the Community Development Department, and District Attorney.
  • Maintaining a focus on a clean, safe, and welcoming District as fundamental to all work within the organization and suggesting and integrating program changes in other teams to align with that.
  • Leading the organization’s public safety strategy in partnership with the Executive Director and senior leadership team.
  • Supporting organizational planning, budgeting, and strategic initiatives that strengthen Midtown Association’s long-term sustainability and community impact.
  • Helping cultivate a culture of responsiveness, innovation, and high performance throughout the organization.
  • Leading and supporting staff and contractors to achieve their professional development goals and company goals, including facilitating strong 1:1s, motivating and developing team dynamics, conducting annual reviews for direct reports, and supporting annual reviews for indirect reports.
  • Partnering cross-functionally with Administration, Communications, Events, Placemaking, Clean and Safe, and leadership teams to align goals, stakeholder engagement, and public impact initiatives.
