About The Position

The Director of Strategic Engagement is responsible for leading CICOA’s annual philanthropic strategy through the creation, supervision, and execution of marketing, communications, public relations, and internal and external events. This role drives brand awareness by managing media relations, ensuring consistent messaging across all organizational platforms, and planning community outreach events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in hospitality, journalism, marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing and communication strategies, with at least 3 years specifically in event management.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Adobe Creative Cloud, Wordpress, HTML, and Canva).
  • Exceptional writing, presentation, and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to interpret financial statements, calculate complex ratios/percentages, and solve practical problems.
  • Must have reliable transportation for business travel.
  • Must provide valid Indiana Driver’s license.
  • Must provide evidence of auto liability insurance.
  • Must have access to mobile phone for business calls.
  • Must be sensitive to service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing and communications strategic plan.
  • Design and manage the organization’s annual philanthropic event strategy to meet strategic goals.
  • Determine key messaging for diverse audiences and select the most effective communication channels.
  • Evaluate the success of marketing efforts and events using defined metrics and data analysis.
  • Conceptualize and execute external events to engage stakeholders, donors, media, and government officials.
  • Produce detailed event proposals, including timelines, budgets, staffing, and venue management.
  • Ensure all insurance, legal, health, and safety obligations are met prior to execution of events.
  • Manage post-event dismantling and clearing of event sites.
  • Serve as the primary media contact and coordinate press conferences, guest appearances, and one-on-one media relations.
  • Oversee all publications, including newsletters, brochures, invitations, and news releases.
  • Oversee website design, maintenance, and online marketing strategies, including social media.
  • Manage the creation of promotional materials and copy for print or radio advertisements.
  • Photograph events and store PR materials in an archival system.
  • Serve as a liaison between departments to ensure staff are aware of the marketing plan and meet deadlines.
  • Coordinate personal appearances for the CEO and other key leadership staff.
  • Work with event committee chair(s) and departmental managers to ensure event objectives are met.
