About The Position

In this position, the candidate will work on standards, regulations, and industry efforts in a variety of fora interfacing with industry leaders for the definition of an end-to-end architecture solution for Electronic Conspicuity for aviation. The work will focus on creating and expanding an EC community of interest, formalizing it, interact with CAAs and regulators as appropriate, and outreach to relevant industry partners (MNOs, aviation OEMs, etc.). The candidate will interact closely with the related business units for the definition of demo platforms and product design for future demonstrations and proof of concept, and for the longer term commercialization of EC solutions and UAS platforms. Essential to this role will be pushing for A2X adoption. The candidate will work with existing team members to drive corporate standardization strategy, industry engagements, and represents the company as a primary delegate in external industry groups, and align external groups products (standards, regulations, white papers, etc.) with internal product roadmaps.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 6 to 8+ years (depending on degree level) in systems engineering, standards/regulations development, or similar experience in a regulatory body.
  • Excellent knowledge of how a CAA (e.g. FAA) operates and ability to create material to inform CAAs and regulatory bodies decisions.
  • Deep technical knowledge in specialized areas like UAVs, BVLOS, electronic conspicuity, UTM, integration with ATM, CAAs rule making, DoTs operations, defense solutions for UAS, A2X, remote ID, detect and avoid solutions, counter-UAS solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 8+ years Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 7+ years Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
  • PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Standards and Industry Fora Leadership: direct technical contributions and lead working groups in external bodies.
  • Support other team members in their leadership towards other industry and regulatory fora (e.g. EU and Asia).
  • Strategy & Alignment: Formulate Qualcomm's engagement strategy for emerging technologies and map them directly to product roadmaps
  • IP & Innovation: Work alongside legal teams to identify, draft, and file strategic patent applications protecting core inventions
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: synchronize internal architecture, product management, systems engineering, and executive leadership teams.
