About The Position

Health Solutions West is the Western slope’s largest behavioral health care organization, covering more than 23,000 square miles across 10 counties. With over 250 employees in Western Colorado, you would be joining a mighty team of support and administrative staff, case managers, clinicians, physicians, nurses, and others in our efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of our community. The Director of Specialty Services provides strategic, operational, and administrative leadership for specialty behavioral health programs including Case Management, Care Coordination, Assertive Community Treatment (ACT), ASCENT (First Episode Psychosis), Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (NGRI), and organizational certification activities. The Director is responsible for program performance, quality outcomes, regulatory compliance, workforce development, fiscal stewardship, and the implementation of organizational priorities across assigned service lines. Through the supervision of Program Coordinators, the Director ensures specialty programs deliver person-centered, recovery-oriented, and evidence-based services that support Health Solutions West's mission, strategic objectives, and contractual obligations. The Director is responsible for identifying gaps in care across the behavioral health continuum and developing innovative care coordination strategies that strengthen service integration, improve transitions of care, enhance community partnerships, and improve access to behavioral health services throughout the Health Solutions West service area.

Requirements

  • Minimum five (5) years' experience in a human services setting, such as a community mental health center, chemical dependency setting, or residential treatment facility.
  • Experience must include at least three (3) years of administrative and/or supervisory experience.
  • Licensure in the State of Colorado required.
  • Thorough knowledge of management, mental health, and community relations.
  • Working knowledge of Windows based computer applications to include Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Internet access.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment including computer, copier, fax and multi-line telephone.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external customers.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload in a busy environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to exercise frequent independent judgement and initiative.
  • Must already be authorized to work in the US; sponsorships not available.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a recognized mental health profession preferred.
  • Experience with Medicaid-funded behavioral health services, community mental health centers, specialty behavioral health programs, and regulatory compliance preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change, develop programs, analyze data, and manage complex operational initiatives.

  • Provides leadership both independently and as a member of management teams in decision making, implementation, and quality compliance.
  • Effectively communicates program needs and services to individuals and groups.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of all patient information per HIPAA regulations, federal and state law, and facility policies and procedures.
  • Effectively assigns, prioritizes and directs the work assignments and scheduling of staff reporting to this position.
