About The Position

The Director of Spa is responsible for managing and supervising all areas of the spa, including its programs, services, hours of operation, facilities, and staff. This role coordinates the delivery of spa services, oversees retail operations, manages budgets, and develops sales and marketing strategies to maximize financial performance and guest satisfaction. The Director of Spa also plays a key role in human resources activities, including hiring, training, and performance management, while ensuring compliance with all state, brand, and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major.
  • 4 years experience in the spa, guest services, front desk, sales, and marketing, or related professional area in a high volume luxury spa environment.
  • Must have a working permit to work in the USA.
  • Must be able to use or have knowledge of Microsoft Office programs as well as SpaSoft and Micros POS program.
  • Must provide superior customer service at all times.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal communication and written skills both with the guests and other departments as well as within the Spa.
  • Must have proven leadership skills.
  • Must be able to resolve problem situations in a calm, effective manner efficiently.
  • Effectively deal with guests, team leaders, and employees exhibiting high levels of tact, patients, and diplomacy.
  • Strong administrative ability including preparation and analysis of financial and other various reports.
  • Must follow and implement brand, company, and safety procedures.
  • Must maintain a clean, organized, and modern environment while assisting the department head.

Nice To Haves

  • Provider experience and/or massage therapist experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the spa, gym, and courts.
  • Manage and supervise all areas of the spa, including its programs, services, hours of operation, facilities, and staff.
  • Coordinate the delivery of spa services, including salon, skincare, fitness and wellness, massage, program coordinating, reservations, reception desk, tennis courses, yoga classes, self-defense classes, gym, and locker room areas.
  • Direct and work with the management team and hourly employees to successfully execute all spa operations.
  • Strive to continually improve guest and employee satisfaction and maximize the financial performance of the department.
  • Manage spa operations and budgets.
  • Select vendors for spa retail operations and manage contract agreements.
  • Oversee retail product research, product selection, and purchasing, product display.
  • Manage supply inventories and purchasing control, including uniforms.
  • Monitor the spa's actual and projected sales to ensure revenue goals are met or exceeded.
  • Maintain cleanliness of spa and related areas and equipment.
  • Manage spa sales and marketing strategy.
  • Create and coordinate special services for groups including group gifting programs, group amenities, group turndown gifts, letters, and invitations, creating special spa services for specific groups, and spa contract addendum negotiation.
  • Develop and manage spa promotions including gifting programs, gift with purchase, co-op marketing efforts, and holiday events.
  • Ensure spa services are included in all property-related marketing and advertising.
  • Identify and recommend new products and product enhancements to remain competitive in the market.
  • Manage spa revenue management strategy.
  • Monitor and manage the payroll function.
  • Manage areas of operation to budget by reviewing operating statements, budget worksheets, and payroll progress reports.
  • Manage spa controllable expenses such as guest amenities, linen expenses, professional salon products, plants, decorations, and paper supplies to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
  • Ensure and deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Display leadership in guest hospitality, exemplifying excellent customer service and creating a positive atmosphere for guest relations.
  • Empower employees to provide excellent customer service.
  • Strive to improve service performance.
  • Conduct human resources activities.
  • Review comment cards, guest satisfaction results, and other data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Review findings with employees to develop appropriate corrective action, share plans with property leadership and ensure corrective action is taken to continuously improve results.
  • Interview and hire management and hourly employees with the appropriate skills to meet the business needs of the operation.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a Spa orientation program for employees to receive the appropriate new hire training to successfully perform their job.
  • Administer the performance appraisal process for direct report managers.
  • Develop business goals and create appropriate development plans.
  • Establish and maintain open, collaborative relationships with employees and ensure employees do the same within the team.
  • Ensure that regular ongoing communication is happening in all areas of responsibility to create awareness of business objectives and communicate expectations, recognize performance, and produce desired business results.
  • Celebrate successes and publicly recognize the contributions of team members.
  • Carry, lift, push and pull over 25 pounds.
  • Stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Ensure the spa is in compliance with all state sanitation and licensing regulations.
  • Ensure that all safety standards are met; rectify any deficiencies in accordance with state and brand regulations.
  • Assist with staff levels, scheduling, evaluating, and disciplining departmental team members as required.
  • Responsible for financial tracking and preparation, as assigned including but not limited to purchase orders, inventory, payroll, financial tracking, and record-keeping.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
