About The Position

West Shore Home is a leading home improvement company with over 40 locations nationwide and more than 3,000 employees. The Digital Product Development team, Lighthouse Studio, is responsible for innovating and executing ideas to revolutionize the home remodeling industry. As a Director of Software Development, you will provide strategic leadership for all software development within the Digital Product team. This includes setting the technical direction, aligning the development organization with the product roadmap, and fostering a high-performing engineering culture. A key aspect of this role is advancing the team's adoption of AI-assisted development tools and next-generation software engineering models to ensure continued growth and innovation.

Requirements

• Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
• 10+ years of progressive software development experience with 5+ years of software development leadership experience, required, including management of engineering managers, preferred.
• Demonstrated track record of setting technical strategy and driving architecture decisions in a product-driven environment.
• Experience providing input and recommendations on tooling selection, vendor evaluation, and third-party development partnerships in collaboration with leadership.
• Demonstrated exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire, develop, and hold accountable a high-performing technical organization.
• Deep understanding of modern software development methodologies, including Agile/Scrum and DevSecOps.
• Proficiency with cloud-based development environments, CI/CD pipelines, and software architecture patterns.

Responsibilities

• Ownership over the strategic direction of software development across the Digital Product team, ensuring alignment with the product roadmap, business objectives, and cross-functional stakeholder priorities.
• Responsible for technical architecture decisions, development standards, and platform evolution spanning web, mobile, and supporting technologies.
• Lead and develop a team of Software Development Managers and Staff Software Developers; ensure Software Development Managers are empowered to manage day-to-day team operations, resource allocation, and sprint-level execution.
• Establish and enforce software development standards, coding best practices, security protocols, monitoring, and quality benchmarks across all development teams.
