The Director of Social Services will abide by and practice according to CareOne Social Service Policies and Procedures Manual, State and Federal guidelines and the National Association of Social Workers & Code of Ethics's. Social Service functions include but are not limited to: supervising social service staff, direct services, advocacy, counseling, service coordination, education, in-servicing, policy and program development and community relations. The role involves acting as a resource to other Social Workers, assisting with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and orienting new staff, and establishing standards of practice. The Director will also assist with updating the Policy and Provision manual, implement a peer review process, and establish communication channels with other Social Workers through regular meetings. Participation in Center-based Quality Improvements and submitting monthly reports to the RDO are also key functions. The position involves planning and directing a comprehensive social service program, participating in an interdisciplinary team approach, and providing therapeutic intervention to help residents cope with social and psychological aspects of their illnesses, impairments, or disabilities. Maintaining written documentation in the resident's medical record, performing initial evaluations/assessments of psychosocial needs, and developing the social service component of the resident's plan of care are crucial. The Director will act as a liaison between residents, families, outside agencies, and the Center Administrator, conduct family meetings, and function in a management capacity. Administrative requirements, facilitating discharge planning, and ensuring the safety of all Center residents are also part of the role.
