About The Position

S:US is seeking a Director of Social Services for their men's shelter in Brooklyn. This position is located at Blake Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11208. The Director of Social Services will work with shelter staff to identify unmet needs among shelter residents and develop plans to engage residents in supplementary services. They will also develop and identify a schedule of groups of various content conducted within and outside of the facility, provide crisis intervention services, and if necessary, refer clients for psychiatric assessment. The role requires maintaining updated information about mental health, substance abuse treatment, and other social services in the community, and serving as a resource to Case Managers and their clients. Additionally, the Director will work with clients and case managers in developing treatment plans and identifying community-based referrals for clients to continue treatment after leaving the shelter. The position involves maintaining data about service utilization, providing administrative and clinical supervision to staff, attending, participating, and facilitating regular staff trainings and meetings, and maintaining confidentiality and privacy regarding all clients’ information. The Director will also complete incident reports in accordance with policy and procedures, report any abuse/neglect in accordance with policy and procedure, and ensure the safety and well-being of the clients on a daily basis. The role requires working cooperatively with the entire team to carry out program goals and objectives for each client, understanding and implementing the agency’s philosophy, policies, and mission, and complying with all SUS Employee and Corporate Compliance Policies, Procedures, and Protocols, as well as NYS Dept. of Social Services Rules, Regulations, and Statutes.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree required
  • 2+ years of Managerial/Supervisory experience.
  • Flexibility including evening and weekend hours required.

Nice To Haves

  • LMSW/LCSW or LMHC preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.
