About The Position
This position is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, supervising, and monitoring the administration of all social service programs within the department. This includes grant submission, staff training, crisis intervention counseling, transitional living accommodations, emergency services, and financial, food, and clothing assistance. The role involves supervising all department staff, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, developing and enhancing programs to meet community needs, administering the department budget, securing funding, writing grant proposals, and promoting program services through public speaking.
Requirements
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Services, Human Service, Mental Health or a LCSW
- Five years progressively responsible experience administering social service programs
- At least two years in a supervisory capacity
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively.
- Valid State Driver’s License

- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Responsibilities
- Designs and supervises the administration of all social service programs to include emergency shelters, family crisis intervention, transitional living shelters, domestic violence shelters, etc.
- Develops, implements, and enforces program policies and procedures.
- Evaluates program effectiveness and develops enhancements to improve overall operations and delivery of services.
- Administers the FEMA program and all other rent and utility assistance programs.
- Ensures program operations are in compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Coordinates and monitors The Salvation Army program purchases.
- Develops and administers a volunteer staffing program networked through existing community affiliates.
- Provides a single point of communication between the end users and the UNITY team around HRIS issues.
- Reviews and monitors monthly statistics representing department services, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
