About The Position

Saint Louis University's Anesthesiologist Assistant Program seeks a part-time Director of Simulation (0.6 FTE) to coordinate and oversee clinical simulation activities for graduate students in the Master of Health Science in Anesthesiologist Assistant program. This position plays a vital role in ensuring high-quality clinical experiences and maintaining strong relationships with clinical partners and preceptors. The Director of Simulation Education (DSE) will oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of the skills and simulation curriculum. The DSE will ensure the skills and simulation instruction meet program goals and accreditation standards. Enable students to meet program-defined learning outcomes and competencies. As a principal faculty member, the Director of Simulation Education will be involved in teaching, evaluation, advisement, and mentoring of anesthesiologist assistant students in classroom, clinical, and other settings; participate in the admissions and selection process in program organization, evaluation, planning, administration, and management, and will assist in continuous review and analysis of the effectiveness of the program.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Master's Anesthesiologist Assistant program
  • Certification through NCCAA.
  • Minimum of 2 years full-time clinical experience as a CAA.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain training in curriculum design and teaching methods for simulation.
  • Become familiar with the simulation lab equipment at the School of Medicine and resources to optimize the simulation/skills curriculum.
  • Effectively communicate with Clinical Training Facility staff.
  • Serve as course director and instructor for core simulation courses, develop course content, student evaluation methods and tools, and manage grading.
  • Recruit, train, and schedule additional faculty in teaching simulation/skills lab.
  • Oversee integration of skills and simulation instruction and evaluation throughout the curriculum.
  • Coordinate with the Program Director to ensure students are adequately prepared for progression through clinical phase rotations.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director and other education directors to develop a process to monitor and document student progress and identify and address deficiencies in meeting program competencies and learning outcomes.
  • Serve as a member of the Advisory Committee to review program outcomes.
  • Serve as a member of the Admissions Committee and Progression Committee
  • Manage, organize, and order instructional supplies and task trainers with the Program Director.
