About The Position

The Director of Security is responsible for overseeing the Club’s security operations, emergency preparedness, access control, investigations, loss-prevention practices, and Security team. This position protects the Club’s members, guests, colleagues, facilities, grounds, vehicles, assets, and confidential information while maintaining the discreet and service-oriented standards expected within a luxury private-club environment. The Director of Security works closely with the Director of Safety, Human Resources, Club leadership, department leaders, outside agencies, and security vendors to identify risks, respond to incidents, support safety initiatives, and maintain effective emergency-response procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Minimum of five years of progressive experience in security, law enforcement, military service, emergency management, loss prevention, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid certification is required or must be obtained within the timeframe established by the Club.
  • Employment is contingent upon successfully completing all required background screenings.
  • Strong knowledge of security operations, emergency response, incident investigation, access control, key management, surveillance systems, loss prevention, crowd management, and crisis communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, schedule, train, coach, and develop a professional Security team.
  • Strong judgment, discretion, diplomacy, conflict-resolution skills, and the ability to remain calm during emergencies.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with members, guests, colleagues, vendors, law-enforcement agencies, and emergency responders.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, security technology, incident-reporting systems, and scheduling software.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English at a level sufficient to communicate effectively and prepare accurate reports.

Nice To Haves

  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, emergency management, security management, hospitality management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous security leadership experience within a luxury resort, private club, hotel, gated community, or hospitality environment is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily operations of the Security department and provide professional, service-focused security coverage throughout the property.
  • Recruit, onboard, train, schedule, supervise, coach, and evaluate Security personnel.
  • Develop, review, and maintain security policies, post orders, emergency plans, and departmental procedures.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels and prepare schedules based on operational and event needs.
  • Oversee property patrols, access-control procedures, key control, credentials, parking, visitor access, deliveries, and restricted areas.
  • Monitor and coordinate the operation of surveillance cameras, alarm systems, radios, access-control equipment, and other security technology.
  • Direct the response to emergencies, medical incidents, disturbances, suspicious activity, theft, property damage, severe weather, fire alarms, and other security-related situations.
  • Coordinate with law enforcement, fire-rescue, emergency medical services, and other outside agencies when necessary.
  • Conduct fair, objective, discreet, and timely investigations involving accidents, injuries, theft, property damage, policy violations, and other security-related matters.
  • Review incident reports, witness statements, patrol logs, key-control records, visitor logs, and other required documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Analyze incidents and security trends to identify risks and recommend corrective measures.
  • Work closely with the Director of Safety to support workplace-safety initiatives, inspections, accident-prevention efforts, emergency planning, training, and drills.
  • Develop security plans for special events, large gatherings, high-profile visits, construction projects, and other activities requiring additional coverage.
  • Manage the Security department’s operating and capital budgets, equipment, supplies, and vendor relationships.
  • Provide regular security updates and recommendations to the General Manager and executive leadership.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding members, guests, colleagues, investigations, security procedures, and Club business.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
