About The Position

This role is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of security and surveillance operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading a team to maintain a safe and secure environment. The Director will develop and implement security plans, manage surveillance systems, coordinate emergency response, and conduct investigations. This position requires strong leadership, regulatory knowledge, and expertise in security and surveillance technologies.

Requirements

  • Working command of 68 IAC Title 68 for Security, Surveillance, Internal Controls, and related definitions (Articles 1, 12, 15, 25).
  • Proficiency with modern digital CCTV (VMS, analytics), camera placement/coverage standards, and evidence export/retention that meets IGC requirements.
  • Strong incident command, de-escalation, and emergency management skills.
  • Proven ability to coordinate with IGC agents, local law enforcement, EMS, and property leadership.
  • Skilled at writing, interpreting, testing, and remediating internal controls.
  • Comfortable owning corrective action plans arising from IGC orders or findings.
  • Ability to build and interpret dashboards (incidents, response times, downtime).
  • Experience managing access-control systems.
  • Ability to partner with IT on security technology risks.
  • Capable of briefing executives and regulators.
  • Skilled in coaching frontline staff.
  • Proficient in writing court-ready reports.
  • Ability to develop managers and build bench strength.
  • Ability to hold the line on standards while keeping morale intact.
  • Experience in incident management, including response time, case closure/quality, recovery/loss-avoidance, and repeat-incident reduction.
  • Must have at least 99% required camera uptime and no critical blind-spots during required operations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, implement, and update the property’s Surveillance Plan and related procedures.
  • Ensure proper management of the Commission Surveillance Room, including access controls and key custody.
  • Lead responses to IGC inquiries, audits, disciplinary actions, and investigations.
  • Manage Security elements of the property’s Internal Controls, including incident response and system failures.
  • Enforce age restrictions on the casino floor and restricted areas.
  • Ensure uninterrupted monitoring and recording of all gaming activities and cash handling points.
  • Oversee surveillance reviews supporting table fills and other cash/asset movements.
  • Direct detection, documentation, and escalation of cheating, theft, game irregularities, and policy breaches.
  • Lead uniformed security operations, including patrol, access control, and incident response.
  • Oversee development, drills, and execution of the property Emergency Response Plan.
  • Coordinate with IT and Compliance on remote access and technology-change controls.
  • Direct, review, and approve incident reports, interviews, evidence handling, and referrals.
  • Maintain metrics dashboards for incidents, response times, recovery values, and camera downtime.
  • Partner with Compliance on Title 31/AML observations, patron disputes, and self-exclusions/trespass enforcement.
  • Lead, mentor, and performance-manage Security & Surveillance managers, supervisors, and employees.
  • Develop and deliver training on regulatory standards, internal controls, and security procedures.
  • Certify camera operators on all systems.
  • Foster a professional culture of discretion, confidentiality, and guest service.
  • Own the life cycle of CCTV and access-control systems, including upgrades and vendor management.
  • Ensure all vendors related to gaming activity are appropriately vetted/licensed.
  • Manage departmental budgets for labor, maintenance, and capital expenditures.
  • Deliver cost-effective risk reduction.
