About The Position

Lumpkin County Schools is now accepting applications for the position of Director of School Nutrition, with an anticipated start date of January or February 2027. This role involves supervising the School Nutrition Program and staff, ensuring compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations governing food preparation, serving, and storage. The Director is accountable for the administration of the fiscal budget, procurement, equipment, supplies, and safety standards. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, controlling, and directing system-wide food service operations and programs, developing and implementing menus, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. The position requires effective utilization of system technologies, participation in professional development, and providing in-service training for staff. The Director must operate programs in accordance with federal/state guidelines and local Board of Education regulations and policies, and resolve personnel issues professionally. Requirements

  • Must hold a Georgia Clear Renewable School Nutrition Director certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, (Master's Degree or higher), or be issued an Induction Certificate (Bachelor's Degree or higher) and convert to a Clear Renewable certificate (Master's Degree or higher) within 3 years

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the School Nutrition Program and staff
  • Communicate effectively with Central Office staff, administrators, employees, students, parents, teachers, vendors and community members
  • Ensure compliance with all federal/state laws and regulations governing food preparation, serving and storage
  • Accountable for the administration of the fiscal budget, procurement, equipment, supplies and safety standards
  • Plan, organize, control and direct system wide food service operations and programs; develop and implement menus, goals, objectives, policies and procedures related to system food service programs
  • Effectively utilize system technologies
  • Participate in professional conferences, in-service sessions, and other trainings to keep abreast of current practices
  • Provide in-service and training for all staff in compliance with professional standards
  • Operate the programs in accordance with federal/state guidelines and local Board of Education regulations and policies
  • Resolve personnel issues while maintaining professional demeanor
