About The Position

Ascent Hospitality is seeking an energetic, strategic, and results-driven Director of Sales to lead the sales and business development efforts for The Tallison Hotel in Carmel, IN. The Director of Sales will be responsible for developing and executing the hotel's overall sales strategy, growing market share, generating new business, and building strong relationships with corporate, group, leisure, and local accounts. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on hospitality sales leader who enjoys being in the market, developing relationships, creating new business opportunities, and directly influencing hotel revenue. You will work closely with the General Manager, hotel leadership, corporate team, and Marriott partners to establish a strong market presence and achieve the hotel's revenue and business objectives. This is more than a traditional sales position. Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Director of Sales, Area Director of Sales, or senior hotel sales professional.
  • Strong background in hotel sales, business development, group sales, corporate sales, or revenue generation.
  • Demonstrated success developing new accounts and generating measurable hotel revenue.
  • Strong knowledge of the Carmel, Indianapolis, and Central Indiana markets is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong business development mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and turn relationships into revenue.
  • Strategic thinker who is also hands-on and comfortable being active in the local market.
  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities with the ability to motivate and develop a sales team.
  • Highly organized, proactive, competitive, and results-oriented.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working collaboratively with hotel and corporate leadership.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and hotel sales/CRM systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Marriott or other major hotel brands is preferred.
  • Experience with boutique, lifestyle, upscale, or full-service hotels is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall sales strategy and business development efforts for The Tallison Hotel.
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to increase occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and overall hotel revenue.
  • Identify, prospect, and secure new corporate, group, leisure, government, sports, and local market accounts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key businesses, corporate accounts, meeting planners, travel professionals, event organizations, and community partners.
  • Develop and maintain a healthy sales pipeline through consistent prospecting, sales calls, client visits, networking, and follow-up.
  • Generate and convert leads for group business, meetings, events, corporate travel, weddings, social groups, and other revenue opportunities.
  • Conduct property tours, client meetings, presentations, networking events, and community outreach.
  • Create customized proposals, presentations, packages, and account strategies based on client needs and market opportunities.
  • Develop strategic partnerships throughout Carmel, Indianapolis, and the surrounding Central Indiana market.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, pricing, account production, and emerging business opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with the General Manager and hotel operations team to ensure sales strategies align with hotel goals and operational capabilities.
  • Track sales activity, account production, leads, bookings, and revenue performance.
  • Participate in Marriott sales initiatives, networking opportunities, industry events, and community activities.
  • Represent The Tallison Hotel and Ascent Hospitality professionally within the local business and hospitality community.
  • Recruit, coach, mentor, and develop sales team members as the hotel sales operation grows.
  • Establish a culture of accountability, collaboration, proactive selling, and exceptional client service.
