About The Position

Acumed LLC, a part of the global industrial organization Marmon Holdings backed by Berkshire Hathaway, is seeking a Director of Sales (DOS) in NYC, New York. The DOS will drive sales performance through medical education, sales team development, and inventory management. This role involves executing territory sales plans aligned with Acumed’s mission and growth strategy, building and maintaining sales relationships, and supporting product training and promotional activities. The DOS may also oversee inventory, equipment, and materials in compliance with company policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required.
  • Five or more years of experience in orthopedic medical device sales management.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle customer product questions and objections consistent with sales training methodology.
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry and trends.
  • Must be able to travel (fly and drive) regularly.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently in a cross-functional, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, tolerance for time pressure deadlines, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to deliver results with multiple and complex projects.
  • Required to obtain hospital-required credentials due to frequent surgery visits/observations.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain new sales channel relationships with independent sales groups and/or individual contractors.
  • Regularly review and analyze results of independent sales channels and direct sellers to ensure alignment with growth plans.
  • Work with the Regional Business Director (RBD) to set sales goals for each district, measure achievements, and propose changes to sales channels.
  • Ensure all sales channel relationships are bound by a current, Compliance-approved Acumed independent sales contract and that all standard operating procedures are communicated.
  • Support compliance audit and reporting requirements related to independent sales channel relationships and activities.
  • Provide input and feedback on monthly and yearly forecasts based on sales channel trends, product mix, competitor activities, Medical Education events, and new product launches.
  • Develop and maintain product line technical expertise.
  • Participate in Medical Education events to support marketing strategies, focusing on Fellowship and Residency programs.
  • Participate in industry meetings and professional exhibitions to maintain company image and identify market opportunities.
  • Work with the assigned Inventory Analyst to ensure proper allocation of field inventory within the territory.
  • Liaise with Product Marketing, Business Services, and Marketing Communications to create trade show direction and ensure appropriate marketing collateral is ordered and delivered.
