Responsible for leading and directing a sales team to meet or exceed sales revenue, sales profitability and volume. The role involves strategic planning, managing people, selling, relationship building and managing the bottom-line for pet division sales.

Responsibilities

  • Manage large customer accounts, serving as the primary contact for key customers, and overseeing projects, forecasts, pricing, and other activities.
  • Develop and demonstrate a deep understanding of products, and explore new opportunities within key customer accounts.
  • Develop plans and strategies for business development and achieving sales goals.
  • Create a culture of success, ongoing business, and goal achievement.
  • Manage sales teams and resources to deliver profitable growth.
  • Manage annual sales budgets, ensuring coordinated communications, supporting sales plan objectives, and meeting organizational expenditure requirements.
  • Hire and develop sales staff, defining and coordinating sales training programs.
  • Provide expertise by building, developing, and managing sales teams capable of executing company strategies and tactics.
  • Define sales processes that drive desired sales outcomes and identify improvements.
  • Manage customer expectations and contribute to a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Implement infrastructure and systems to support the sales function.
  • Collaborate with divisional counterparts to lead a compelling strategic vision aligned with organizational goals.
  • Assess market potential and identify new business opportunities and synergies.
  • Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting.
  • Compile information and data related to customer and prospect interactions.
  • Monitor customer, market, and competitor activity and provide feedback to leadership and other functions.
  • Manage key customer relationships and participate in closing strategic opportunities.
  • Travel for in-person meetings with customers and partners to develop key relationships.
  • Develop and implement sales selling cycles and methodologies based on market research and competitor analysis.
  • Manage employees, directing and supervising work activities, and monitoring performance.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to screen, interview, and hire candidates.
  • Administer disciplinary actions and recommend performance improvement actions in collaboration with the HR Manager.
  • Monitor work performance and recommend compensation decisions.
  • Develop and maintain a favorable working relationship with all employees, promoting a cooperative and harmonious environment.
  • Participate in the ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
  • Coordinate work to ensure best practices with all team members.
  • Attend appropriate team meetings.
  • Foster strong cohesiveness regarding major issues (e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes).
  • Accept responsibility to identify areas lacking cohesiveness and work with the team to resolve issues.
  • Actively look for ways to achieve synergy within the larger organization.
  • Maintain familiarity with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN).
  • Understand the responsibility to support these systems and communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
