About The Position

The Director of Sales & Marketing is responsible for leading Apex’s revenue growth strategy through business development, sales leadership, and marketing execution. This role owns the development of a qualified pipeline, the pursuit and closing of new managed services business, and the alignment of marketing programs to Apex’s target client profile and growth goals. The Director serves as a member of Apex’s leadership team and acts as both a strategic leader and hands-on contributor in support of net new recurring revenue growth. Requirements

  • Proven success in sales leadership, business development, or revenue leadership roles
  • Strong experience selling B2B technology services, managed IT services, cybersecurity, cloud solutions, or related offerings
  • Demonstrated ability to build qualified pipeline and close complex consultative sales opportunities
  • Experience managing both sales execution and marketing performance
  • Strong executive communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Experience with RFP processes, contracts, and structured sales methodologies such as the Sandler Selling System
  • Strong CRM, forecasting, and pipeline management discipline
  • Working knowledge of IT services and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams
  • Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to perform in a high-accountability environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an MSP, MSSP, VAR, or similar technology services business
  • Experience selling recurring revenue agreements
  • Experience working with public sector, municipal, or regulated-industry clients
  • Familiarity with HubSpot, QuoteWerks, BrightGauge, and Microsoft 365/SharePoint

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute Apex’s annual sales and marketing plan in alignment with company revenue goals and strategic initiatives
  • Define target client profiles, priority markets, and go-to-market strategies
  • Establish and monitor KPIs related to pipeline generation, marketing performance, conversion rates, forecast accuracy, and revenue growth
  • Provide regular reporting and forecasting to the leadership team
  • Lead the full sales cycle from prospecting and qualification through proposal, negotiation, and close
  • Drive net new managed services revenue, with emphasis on recurring revenue agreements
  • Conduct discovery meetings, identify business needs, and align Apex solutions to client objectives
  • Deliver effective presentations to executives, business owners, boards, councils, and other decision-makers
  • Manage pipeline discipline and ensure CRM data, forecasting, and opportunity progression are accurate and actionable
  • Support complex deal strategy and personally lead key pursuits when appropriate
  • Oversee marketing strategy and execution across digital campaigns, SEO, paid search, website, social media, events, and networking channels
  • Ensure marketing efforts generate qualified leads aligned with Apex’s ideal client profile
  • Manage internal and external marketing resources, including campaign planning, content oversight, and performance measurement
  • Review campaign results regularly and adjust strategy to improve lead quality and return on investment
  • Identify, evaluate, and lead response efforts for selected RFP opportunities
  • Manage Q&A, proposal development, walkthroughs, and interview preparation
  • Lead contract development and negotiations in coordination with internal stakeholders and legal counsel as needed
  • Support Apex’s strategic differentiation in target markets, including public sector opportunities and advisory councils
  • Ensure complete and accurate handoff of new clients to onboarding, VCIO, and service delivery teams
  • Participate in client transition meetings and support a smooth onboarding experience
  • Follow up with newly onboarded clients to reinforce relationship quality and identify referral opportunities
  • Work closely with operations and leadership to ensure growth objectives align with service capabilities
  • Recruit, manage, coach, and develop team members within sales and marketing
  • Maintain and improve the use of sales and marketing systems including HubSpot, QuoteWerks, BrightGauge, and SharePoint
  • Leverage the latest technology trends, including AI, to constantly improve our sales and marketing effectiveness
  • Participate as an active member of Apex’s management and executive teams
