About The Position

The Director of Sales & Marketing is responsible for driving revenue for all traditional sales segments, including but not limited to transient, group, and catering. They develop and implement sales action plans and marketing communication plans to support brand development while staying ahead of market trends. They ensure that the hotel meets or exceeds set goals and budgeted revenue targets, while analyzing guest segmentation and ensuring the appropriate business is placed on the books.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a similar role in a luxury or upper upscale hospitality operation.
  • Proficient in managing and using sales automation and PMS systems.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, including service recovery and resolution.
  • Extensive knowledge of forecasting sales and interpreting/analyzing results to plan and conduct budgetary analysis.
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage multiple concurrent demands while prioritizing responsibilities.
  • Aptitude to perform numerical analysis of data and formulate conclusions and solutions.
  • Approachable, authentic, and engaging demeanor, setting an example for all Associates.
  • A proven track record in a management role with the ability to inspire, motivate, and engage.
  • Ability to develop and deliver effective training.
  • Results oriented and highly motivated self-starter.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, which may include weekends and holidays.
  • Requires writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity.

Responsibilities

  • Drive top-line revenue for all rooms and banquet/catering revenue, as well as prioritize and cross-sell ancillary revenue.
  • Lead the property sales and marketing team to ensure budgeted revenues are met or exceeded.
  • Develop a sales and marketing plan to achieve the desired positioning of the hotel and all sales initiatives.
  • Approve and track all Sales Manager’s action plans and sales goals on an ongoing basis.
  • Operate and manage the sales and marketing department within the established budget and standards.
  • Alongside the corporate team, manage the marketing and brand agencies to ensure all objectives and strategies are executed in a timely manner.
  • Supervise, administer, and ensure timely completion of all activities of the Sales and Marketing department.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Revenue Management to achieve targeted ADR’s, segmentation mix goals, and ensure that branding efforts are incorporated into paid advertising.
  • Maintain an active sales solicitation program.
  • Organize and collaborate on events that will generate good press and PR.
  • Create and curate unique lifestyle/luxury programming in coordination with the Hotel’s operations team that can be used in PR articles and social media activity.
  • Create monthly reports to track the success of campaigns.
  • Create all branded documents to established hotel and corporate standards.
  • Support and develop the management team as needed.
  • Ensure sales and marketing strategies are developed and executed in all revenue-producing areas and that all sales engines are fully leveraged.
  • Drive key customer relationships through personal involvement in the sales process.
  • Continuously promote occupancy, revenue per available/occupied room, market share growth, and profitability to ensure the financial health of the property.
  • Be highly visible and interface with guests on a regular basis to obtain feedback on quality of product, services levels, and overall satisfaction.
  • Create appropriate development plans and develop associates and managers based on their individual strengths, development needs, career aspirations and abilities.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and continually communicate a clear and consistent message regarding the departmental goals to produce the desired results.
  • Ensure all associates have proper supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and train Sales & Marketing associates.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and discipline staff when needed.
  • Maintain a professional and personable appearance at all times, according to hotel standards.
  • Successfully achieve the hotel’s core values of ownership, innovation, craft, respect, and community.
  • Primary duty will be managing the business and their department. They will regularly direct the work of two or more associates and have the authority to hire and terminate.
