About The Position

Our luxury property is looking for a highly motivated individual with experience in driving the Sales efforts to join our team as the Director of Sales and Marketing. The individual will report to the General Manager and collaborate with the sales and catering team to plan, budget, coordinate, and execute sales activities for the InterContinental Seattle Bellevue Hotel. They will work with strategic partners to create and execute global sales strategies, coordinate creation of sales and on-property collateral, and coordinate initiatives for on-property and local programming. They will actively participate in the sales efforts by managing current accounts, while prospecting new accounts, including outside sales calls, solicitations, and presentations. They will create and implement sales programs and strategies for the travel industry and corporate travel market to generate property revenue. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading the Sales efforts for our property, they will be creative in how they approach marketing, they will be a problem solver and be open to learning and leading by example.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of the hotel’s in the Seattle and Bellevue area market.
  • Passion for delivering excellent customer service.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a track record of successful client interactions and relationships.
  • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry, or otherwise move goods weighing a maximum of 50 lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to read, write and speak effectively to comprehend and communicate job functions.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to present sensitive material
  • Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • College education preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading Sales, Marketing, and Catering in a Luxury 4-star and full-service hotel environment.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Maintain a positive and approachable demeanor at all times, as this position holds a seat on the Executive Committee and senior leadership team.
  • All employees must maintain a neat, professional, clean and well-groomed appearance as everyone is a direct representative of our luxury hotel.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Delphi, Opera, Knowland, Cvent and Meeting broker a plus, but not required.
  • Additional language ability preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and drive the Sales department which includes Hotel Group Sales and the Catering Sales team.
  • Drive the strategic focus on creation and distribution of exceptional marketing campaigns
  • Drive the online advertising strategy utilizing strategic partners to achieve growth in website traffic, bookings and conversion
  • Drives digital channel direction through data analysis to deliver ROI
  • Drives the creation of on-property promotions and programming while working with applicable departments to implement
  • Develop and drive the sales and marketing plan for the hotel
  • Stays abreast of industry trends that the hotel can capitalize on
  • Execute sales activities to achieve budgeted goals
  • Develop and implement all sales strategies associated with the Consortia, Wholesale, Leisure and Business Travel Market.
  • Research, analyze, and monitor financial, technological, and demographic factors in order to capitalize on market opportunities and to establish a leadership position in the market
  • Play a pivotal role in hotel sales efforts, including calling on accounts, meeting clients, hosting luncheons and receptions, and meeting with on-site contacts on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
  • Plan and participate in Sales trips and industry related meetings as appropriate to the assigned markets/territories.
  • Assist in the annual budgeting plan
  • Formulate and revise annual and monthly forecasts
  • Negotiate with clients and achieve maximum revenue/profit potential while satisfying clients' needs
  • Enhance the hotel's community's image by actively participating in associations, events, clubs and boards
  • Assume active ownership of assigned sales territory and respond to specific market needs, initiates needed action and suggests to sales leadership any necessary actions
  • Create, train, supervise and monitor the proper preparation of Catering menus, memos, and files.
  • Organize and conduct BEO meetings to coordinate successful functions and ensure accuracy of all BEOs.
  • Provide site tours of our property and meeting space as needed
  • Track, analyze, and share key quantitative metrics and business trends as they relate to client relationships and impact the operations of the hotel.
  • Negotiate, Prepare and write contracts into Delphi or provide instruction as needed to the appropriate colleague
  • Connect strategy and business to generate revenue including Rooms, Retail, Food and Beverage and Catering events.
  • Create and present monthly goals and strategies to the Ownership and Asset groups.
  • Respond in a timely manner to any telephone, email or other inquiries of potential guests.
  • Performs other duties as requested, such as attending outside V.I.P. parties and social events.
  • Attend staff, and other Hotel and operations meetings as needed.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
